Did Exum really say that???!!!???

And there lies the problem. Burke ain't playing that game. He aint' giving it up for nobody.

And if Exum is a killer he'll pry it from Burke's cold dead hands. Look this isn't the old regime if Exum is better than Burke like many "clearly" think he already is then he'll become the starter soon enough.

I like both players and see a lot of value in having multiple guys that can make plays on the perimeter. I don't see why, even long term, both guys might have a role here. Trey needs to improve, but unless you got something good like a mid first round pick or a late lottery pick, I wouldn't move him just yet.

Is that really a workable solution though? That'll create a problem in the locker room for sure. Problem is due to his size, Burke's only position is gonna be PG. Exum, although a PG at the core, is big enough to play the 2 so Exum will always look like the 'bad guy' for taking the PG job from Trey if he starts demanding the ball.

That's the reason why he would just defer to Burke when he's not handling the ball (he admitted this himself). He's a polite kid and is just the type who doesn't want to rock the boat.

I think Exum has better skills than Burke, but Exum has yet to prove that he can be a calming force on the team and lead like Burke can. Like Burke or not, he is one of the few leaders on this team, and he's a stabilizing force when he's running the point.

I like Exum a lot, but our offense performed better this summer when Burke was leading it. Maybe we should wait until the actual games start, and maybe Exum should work on his off-ball skills a little more. Perhaps he's better at the 1, but maybe the team is better when he can play with Burke. It's all about the team…right?
In the little bit of SL I was able to watch I thought the team performed far better when Exum was on the floor instead of Burke and far better with Exum or Burke than when they were together.

This.

It was actually pretty apparent just from the naked eye.

So we're okay with Trey shooting 30% on his FG's as long as he hits a couple in the 4th quarter IF the Jazz have a chance of winning? Guess the other players just need to compensate for his terrible shooting for the first 3 quarters. What happens when the Jazz build a team that should compete EVERY game?

Exum IS a better PG and distributor. It was evident in SL. I think DL realizes this too, as the news came out they were looking for another guard. Before SL, all the talk was about a 3-man rotation of Burke, Burks and Exum.

What are you implying here??

Where the hell is numb these days?

I always like to hear his thoughts and i would like to know how he feels about the topics of the last few days. (Exum vs burke, gobert vs kanter, burks extension amount etc)

The offense seemed to flow more smoothly with Exum handling. Burke needed two high screens to get anywhere on the floor. Whereas, defenders were giving Exum space out of respect for his drive, and he was able to make plays with or without a screener.

Yup.

As a former jazz player used to say something similar: "Without the screen I can make a play, with the screen I can make a perfect pass, with a double screen and it's not even fair".

You obviously didn't watch their historic low 4 point first quarter led by Dante Exum.

Your right I didn't. Either way I consider that an outlier not the rule. Last game after a ton of playing in a short period of time for a 19 year old not in game shape yet. I think I'll write that game off. Just because I want to and didn't see it. :)

Burke was playing as well no? Also u can't blame Exum if other guys keep clanking shots when Exum served them up on a plate.

Same stuff happened to Burke, bruh.

I honestly don't care who is better, but the double standard here for players is hilarious. Exum has a crappy attitude, and it's Trey Burke's fault.

Welcome to Jazzfanz people!

No it was the last game when that happened, Burke sat out that game. Exum had the stage for himself, but only scored 9 points on 3 assists that game. The Jazz did end up winning, but the notion that Burke was somehow holding Exum back was, at best, laughable.

I was referring to how Exum was being blamed for that 4 point quarter. No one player can be the reason. Please read carefully.

Also I never blame Burke for Exum's comment. All I'm saying is Burke won't relinguish the PG duty and to me Exum is a better playmaker at the point therefore I think Burke should go.

Where exactly is the double standard?

I don't think Burke is holding him back. I think Exum is about as good right now with more talent.

And how many of those missed shots in the first quarter was Exum's fault?

Exum was +17 for the game by the way. I guess he just wasn't trying hard enough.

I don't have a problem with people being encouraged by what they see from Exum. I just think there's is a double standard on this board as it pertains to Burke with a lot of the poster here. Saying that Exam is better not having seen him in an actual game is a huge stretch. Especially when Exum had a poor SL statically as well.

Who knows? But you don't set a summer league record in futileness unless something is very wrong. Its safe to say Burke's passes are just better timed and better placed at this point in their careers.
If you want to play the +/- angle, Burke had the best +/- of any starter on the Jazz last year, including our 68 million dollar man Hayward. It's safe to say then, by that number, Burke can run a team, and do it pretty damn well.

Sounds like Exum was being more critical of himself for being passive. He said the system was "open" meaning there is freedom, so the choice of not getting the ball as much was his.
