While I agree that there is plenty of smoke, and that Trump in trying to make it go away takes all the wrong actions, I still don't see the smoking gun. Maybe there is one, but I think that Trump is guilty of being clueless and bumbling and narcissistic and arrogant and bombastic, but not necessarily criminal (in this anyway - don't get me started on his behavior toward women and many of his business dealings). Trump is used to railroading people and, by virtue of being rich, getting away with entirely too much, and I assume he believes that it will be the same now that he is president. You don't?
Could you list at least one action trump has done that an innocent person would make? He must have idolized OJ Simpson. Literally everything he has done and continues to do is indicative of every case study I've ever read of a guilty person. From refusing to acknowledge or care about Russian collusion (revealed by both Comey and sessions) to wanting to hide and/or prospect those In his inner circle with criminal connections to Russia to refusing to release his tax forms despite paying a heavy political price, to demanding Comey to shut down the investigation, to firing Comey, to now making himself a martyr by attempting to smear law enforcement merely performing their jobs.
Seriously Jazzgal, you're a bright and fair individual.
Has trump done anything that an innocent person would do?
Another question, aren't trump's actions exactly that of a guilty person?
What completely innocent president wouldn't be mad as hell and get to the bottom of Russian interference in the election? Unless... you already know the answer.
For me, the evidence is already painfully obvious; Especially when you consider Russian hacking and the release of damaging material to Clinton timed exactly when trump was falling behind in the election. This investigation for me is less about discovering connections and more about confirming what most americans already know.
I think he didn't realize the importance of the Russian election interference because he was too worried about not winning the popular vote and convinced that people were trying to take his win away. He does believe what Fox News and Breitbart and Infowars tell him, and they didn't think Russian interference was a big deal, so Trump didn't think it was a big deal. He wanted people around him that he trusted, and he refused to acknowledge their Russian connections, but he often acts like what he wants is more important than anything else. If what Comey claims he said is true, it could be interpreted as a demand, but it also could be seen as a bit of a throwaway comment (just like much that Trump says) or at least a passive-aggressive one. As far as firing Comey, I believe he did that with some ridiculous idea that the Russian investigation would go away. That was stupid and naïve, but completely in line with the way this president thinks.
If Trump made logical decisions and made logical, thoughtful statements, I might buy that he is guilty of something criminal here. I just don't believe he has the intelligence to actually have pulled such a thing off. There is no way he wouldn't have been bragging about it prior to the election. So yes, he is doing everything a normal guilty person might do, but I don't believe he's smart enough to be a normal criminal.
Or maybe I'm wrong, and his whole life has been a long con.
