Donovan Mitchell unlikely to ask for trade per ESPN’s Brian Windhorst

They won't give up that many unprotected picks... they will give one or two and then give the others they own maybe. Donovan is one of their "guys" but they will have limits to how far they go for Don now that they have Brunson.

****** teams don't give up unprotected picks unless they are completely desperate... Knicks are no longer completely desperate.

This is the last time I’m going to say this, but whatever package you think is slightly better the Heat, the Knicks can do it. They have so much more to offer. There’s a million ways they could conjure up a package that’s slightly (or more than slightly) better.

The question is whether they have the desire. I think they do. MIA is not overpaying, they’re not even paying even value. You’re not even asking the Knicks to beat a good offer, just better than the Heat offer that is not good to begin with.

Nobody is saying the Knicks don’t have the means that’s blatantly obvious.

What if Ainge does call and they don’t match what Miami is offering. Should we not take a deal now because we think they will offer more in the future or some other team will?

It would be shocking to me if NYK do not want Donovan at such a cheap price, but I don’t believe you take a bad deal because it’s the only one available. Especially when it comes to star players.

Aren't there other reports that Don clearly has not asked out? Why does this report trump all others?

I'm not assuming Rudy asked out, but just asking the question - is it possible he did after Quin left? Possible at all?

Cheap price? He’d be going for an unprotected pick + two pick swaps more than Dejounte and that’s not even counting the players yet. How is that cheap?

I was responding to this comment, not to the article.:

The snarky "captain loyalty" is a reference to Gobert. I was responding to that aspect of the comment.
I was being a smart-*** for sure. Rudy has a reputation for being so loyal. Just amazing how the player who asked out just has to be Don. The only option in your eyes.

I just gave you a scenario in which that is fully an option. Take off the blinders.

The Knicks were reportedly interested in Dejounte why didn’t they beat the Hawks offer? They had the means to do it.

Sure…they will definitely beat it… Don is the only guy they want and makes complete sense on a Thibs team with another tiny guard. ****** teams are always willing to give up a ton of unprotected picks.

I did. Seems like a battle between owners and players. Like he said...

"There is the beginning of push back by teams," said Brian Windhorst on ESPN Daily. "Definitely in Brooklyn. Definitely in Utah. And they are going to be out stars because of it."

That could mean a number of things. Did just Don ask out? Did just Rudy ask out? Did they both ask out? Did Don ask out after Rudy asked out and got traded?

Did yall not find it odd how gracious Rudy was to the Jazz in his interview? He's always been classy, but he's also been very defensive when people undervalue him.

If Mitchell did not ask out, who did?

"Player empowerment" is about far more than players asking out. The article actually doesn't mention anything about that, it talks about players basically running their organizations and teams finally pushing back.

So the better question is; who is Utah taking power back from? Hmmmmmmmmmmm...

Yeah, we're going to skip the part where you make up an argument and argue against it. No need for that. Point is, the Knicks can beat the offer and can do so in many different ways. It's a question of desire, and I think they have it. MIA isn't overpaying and they're not even paying even. If the MIA package was amazing, I would feel differently, but it's not. I don't think the Knicks are saying no to 85% for Don and would prefer to see him go to the Heat instead.

Man I don't want to do this again. We can bring up Gobert again if you want to talk about the going rate for star players. Dejounte isn't close to Mitchell, and Dejounte didn't come with a contract that would cost 2 firsts to dump. We're talking in circles, going over the same arguments. The MIA deal isn't good value for Don. If it was an overpay, I'd question the Knicks desire to beat it, but it's not.

It didn’t say anyone asked out from Utah… it said we are pushing back against stars.

I’m making up no arguments… I do not believe they will do it… merely sharing why.

It's possible to share reasoning without implying the other person holds a made up bad opinion that they don't. Completely useless and ends all discussion when that happens.

I missed a few hours due to being busy at work the other day and I had damn near 30 minutes of just catching up before I could even reply to anything lol.
Lol, sometimes I see a post and I start building up the reply in my head just to see there are 30 pages after that post. Kills all the vibe.

Should be better without Jefe and Utahjazz32 derailing threads. I am sure Jefe is surprised it took him so long to get banned too.

I found it interesting that Utah was named. Could be players asking not to be traded to the Jazz?
