What's new

Don't stone me...

Not sure I would even do that one.

What if they threw in Archie Goodwin??

PHX can't do it IMO, too risky.. what if the Jazz land a good young ROY contender like Simmons or Ingram and Hayward walks next season?? Their GM will look really dumb and wouldn't survive the offseason.

Len's restricted and Knight has 4 more years on his deal.. The #2 pick means either Ingram or Simmons.

Utah would actually get younger..

It's highly unlikely PHX could play Chandler/Gobert as they do Chandler/Len though.. Still that roster would be damn interesting.. They could start Bledsoe, Booker, Hayward, Warren, Gobert..

There's no way I'd do that trade, pgab. No ****ing way.

Is it just because you think the talent doesn't add up?? A move like this would certainly increase the teams flexibility, and would probably end up saving them some $$ (at least for a few seasons)

Brandon Knight and Rodney Hood would probably put up 40ppg.

The Jazz roster would easily be one of the leagues cheapest and would look something like

Knight-Hood-Ingram-Favors-Len
Exum-Burks/Goodwin-Burks/Ingles-Lyles-Withey

They'll have the $$ to keep Len long-term, resign Derrick Favors in the summer of 2018, and match any offers for Exum and Hood in the summer of 2019 without an issue.

You couldn't get enough value back in such a trade.

They wouldn't be able to get Towns, AD, Westbrook, Curry, LeBron, Durant or Kawhi. And they would need to get one of them to make it worth it. Say Chicago strikes gold in the lottery and gets a top 3 overall, maybe you consider such a deal for Butler, top 3 and somebody (Portis, McDermott) - but then Chicago probably doesn't do that deal either.

Kristaps and a Knicks top 7 pick? Not sure the Knicks would agree to it, and not sure the Jazz should do it even if they did.

Knight and Len are fringe starters is why and we don't know just how great (or not) Ingram would be and we'd lose our biggest asset, our defensive identity, which is led by Gobert.

what I've seen of Len, NO THANKS on the trade. I have faith that the Jazz are moving in the right direction and the only thing slowing them down is injuries and experience. I haven't seen a trade offered that would make the Jazz better and has a legitimate chance of happening.

Honestly doe, I haven't seen a team with Kawhi on it without Tim Duncan or Tony Parker. Just saying...

Yeah. But he also shoots ridiculously well and defends better than anyone in the league not named draymond.

Clearly the Jazz management know a whole lot more about Exum's capabilities than you do

Nothing is clear yet. He hasn't played enough for it to be "clear". All I'm saying is that the odds of Exum becoming an all star are low...

Again, I hope I'm wrong.

If we have to give up the best rim protector in the league, I would like to get the best wing defender in league back in return. Just Saying...

Word is that the jazz management thinks Exum is basically john wall.

John Wall: 16.4pts, 4rbs, 8ast, 40%FG, 1.9 stl in rookie year
Dante Exum: 4.8pts, 1rbs, 2ast, 35%FG, 0.5 stl in rookie year

He has to get 4x better in 3 categories...(stats wise...which I know is not the whole story)

STILL..that's a huge jump.

AGAIN I HOPE IM WRONG

Bottom Line is this.. In my opinion..

Hayward has reached his ceiling as the "star of a team" and Gobert is a luxury, not a necessity to win in the NBA's current landscape.

So deal them while you can. Utah is a market where you have to risk, hoping for the better end of a deal unless you draft PERFECTLY or draft one or two of the top 5 players in the league (OKC), which they have not.

Drafting perfectly:
#9 Hayward 2010: Paul George one pick behind Hayward.
#3 Kanter 2011: Klay Thompson at pick 11
#12 Burks 2011: Kawhi Leonard at pick 15
#9 Burke 2013: Cj McCollum at pick 10
#5 Exum 2014: TBD...(Elfrid Payton at 10 tho..)

You could say that Kanter, Burks and Burke were all lottery misses.

I think they drafted well with Hood(late 1st), Favors and Gobert(late 1st).

Since when did Exum have to put up similar stats as Wall in his rookie year to be as good?? Every player is different and grows at different speeds. In three years or less jazzfanz will be calling me a genius when it comes to Exum.

SL. I I can't see how you're so down on this team. Grow a pair!!

I'm not "down" on this team. I have prefaced everything with "I hope I'm wrong". Im not asking them to lose out to get a couple lottery balls. All I'm saying is that if we are serious about winning championships, which in my opinion is why you play, you have to be able to evaluate and make the proper moves. And I know DL is doing what he thinks is best and I respect the process. But when the process is perfection or luck and for 6 years you haven't been perfect or lucky, you have to try something else. I'm not calling for anyone's head or saying our players suck. I'm just trying to stay realistic and find creative ways to make the team better from my living room :)

Like I said it's not all about stats but Exum is way behind where Wall started. The Jazz front office must've seen something 5 years down the road in Exum if they think he is like Wall.
