What's new

Durant benched, steak ends

Steph Curry would score 80 points per game in the 60's

no he won't.

he would not have learned step back back then. he won't have any of cross overs because well there was no such thing. he wouldn't even be allowed shoot 3s because well there was no 3pters. and there is a reason why many pgs and two guards shot so poorly from the field. like in NFL defense could do more than just standing in front of the guys. they could be very physical knock people down.

wilt is different because he was bigger than anybody else, so there was nothing D could do about it.

KD could score 50. shaq too. but not curry.

you are way way overrating curry. he isn't even the best pg today. give me cp3, westbrook, healthy drose over curry.

LeBron is better than Kobe ever was.

I give Kobe the edge because he has been better in late game situations than Lebron.

Kobe was ruthless at the end of games. I like Lebron better because he more of a team player, but I like my chances better with Kobe for a game winner.

Kobe is always underrated because of his personality.

No, his personality is something I love about him. But LeBron simply has a bigger impact on the basketball court, IMHO. We've never seen someone with this level of efficiency and versatility before.

i can see KD being top 15 when it's all said and done with just 1 chip. Bron's also can be top 5. 1 more ring, i'm putting him in top 6 for sure. but let these guys finish their careers first. what happens if KD never wins a ring? with bad playoff runs? what happens bron never wins a ring again? with few choke jobs?

i once thought grant hill would be a lock top 15 before he got hurt. Penny too. tmac was on his way to greatness than he broke his back.

let them finish their career first.

1. I dont think the number of rings always tells how great a player was.

2. We dont have time to wait until KD is done. That is a long time from now. I dont see the issue with evaluating it right now. We can see with our own eyes what he is capable of. There has been no one like him. The dudes shooting ability is unreal for his size. Hes special. I dont think its debatable anymore.

I think KD gets about 2-3 rings when it is all said and done, and thats because he played in the same era as Lebron.

ring is important especially for lead dogs. it's NBA. rings count alot. i mean ALOT. it's not everything, but it matter alot. what's the point of scoring ton of points if you don't win it all?

it is what it is. you can't be in top 10 if you don't win a ring. you just can't. you play to win the championship. fair or not fair that's how many of these greats are judged.

dirk won it all in bron era. kobe won twice.
there is no reason thunder can't win this year. they are playing out of their minds. KD has entered his prime. westbrook will be back and be great. it's their year. he gotta go get it.

i'll be rooting hard for them. always loved kd.

right now yes, but in the past, bron was awful in many games. he was no show in many games. he had a choker tag for a reason. but winning the 1st championship changed all that. now all the pressure is off of him. he is liberated. it's his show. he is finally a worthy of being called king james

but man, it's gonna be tough to 3peat. there are young cats who want that ring everywhere. let's see if bron has that killer instinct like MJ did. KD, paul george, etc. are coming for him. like how barkley, malone, reggie, etc were coming for MJ.

also i get that bron is all around player and makes an huge impact in a game. BUT

guess who is the mvp this year? KD. why? because you win the game with scoring. he is avg 5pts more than bron. KD going loco is making bron an afterthought right now. this league embraces scorers more. it's not like bron is magic who is dishing 10+ dimes every night. and kobe is the ultimate scorer. one of the greatest scorer we've ever seen. it's an apples and oranges. both got the job done and won championships. i believe kobe has every bit of argument against bron right now. but we know bron still have 6-7 great years left.

Why?

Whats to argue?

Well you include current non retired players who are yet to prove anything. What if the OKC plane crashes tomorrow night?
And everybody values certain things in another way. So you're having a pointless discussion with carolinajazz, faptree(who I think is a carolinajazz alt, he made hoping to get some respect back from "popular" contributors), Dutchjazzer, CAKAR and some other basketball geniuses.
It bugs me for example how you omit Dirk Nowitzki, who's clearly a top15 player of all time IMO ;) But I won't argue you, because that's your list influenced by your homerism.

Dirk gets knocked because he wasnt a great rebounder or defender.

There are a lot of great players left off.

All the players I listed are bad *** players are they not?

What players should I take out besides Durant and Curry? (Even though Curry and Durant are legit)

See that's a misconception again. Dirk is not an elite offensive rebounder, due to his playstyle away from the basket. But he's as good a defensive rebounder as anyone. Same for defense. He reads the opponents sets better than anyone in the league, thus enhancing his teammates by putting out spoilers what the opponents plan is. But you know you have a player who turned a shot that was once considered bad with determination into a popular weapon for elite players these days because all the other elite players have to rotate their go-to moves over the summer because opposite defense are determined to counter your moves. So they need counter moves the next season. But a 1 legged fade away that's physically undefendable with the right practice and muscle memory is such a unique weapon. But I wouldn't expect you to understand that greatness. Instead you put above average players in your list that get protected by their star status ;)

KD is special, but let's not carried away. we've seen 6ft 9 player shoot like that before. Larry Bird comes to mind. Bird is actually slightly taller than KD.

and did you put tmac top 25 before he got hurt too? he was sick briefly was clear top 3 player. i bet you put Penny up there too.

and why not put Brow up there now? he will be super special.

and why isn't Melo up there? i mean if KD is top 10 then at least Melo should be in top 25. Melo ain't KD, but he isn't too far off in terms of scoring ability. and why is Curry over Melo? Melo did it longer. both didn't do sh!11t in the playoffs yet

Nevermind Durant and Curry. Who are you taking out of my top25 ?

My opinion of who the top 25 players of all time are.

1.Michael Jordan
2. Magic Johnson
3. Hakeem Olajuwon
4. Kobe Bryant
5. Lebron James
6. Kevin Durant
7. Tim Duncan
8. Shaquille O'neal
9. Wilt Chamberlin
10. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
11. Bill Russell
12. Larry Bird
13. Karl Malone
14. Dwayne Wade
15. Julius Erving
16. Charles Barkley
17.David Robinson
18. Kevin Garnett
19. Moses Malone
20. Clyde Drexler
21. John Stockton
22. Scottie Pippen
23. Oscar Robertson
24. Isiah Thomas
25. Steph Curry

if i have to take out somebody then i would take out drexler and pippen. eventually today's greats will push them out. both of those guys would be borderline top 25. pippen was the greatest robin and he probably could've been top 20 player, but him not being the lead dog for majority of his career is hurting him. drexler is also borderline top 25. his peak was little too short. so both of them to me are 25-30 range.

but again, i would really have to take time and compare and even revisit some of the old footages before i really make up my mind. it's really hard rank dudes after top 15. it's just too hard because they all make good case.

anyway this would be my all time team

MJ
Pippen
Magic
duncan
wilt

my alternate team

MJ
Pippen
Magic
hakeem
shaq

so yeah, i value pippen's D length and D alot. i think hakeem can play 4. hakeem really was a center even with ralph sampson, but he has skill sets to play 4 and be excel at it.
