Borat: I've explained this earlier in the thread. It's not true that Kanter wasn't able to practice with the team. He was able to work out prior to being declared ineligible and there is more to the story as well. Playing against Nazr, Demarcus, etc.

I'm not trying to be a know-it-all, just sharing what I know and have seen.

His workout agains Demarcus, Nazr, and so on, were they one on one workouts, or a game setting where both participated playing organized ball?

5 on 5 game setting. Organized? Wouldn't go quite that far. More street ball really. Nevertheless, it was obvious to this layperson that he was the best on the court, by a lot.

I was starting to get excited that DWill was going to fall to us, and now I might be leaning once again towards Kanter. This is going to be a long month. Thanks PKM.

^^^ Very true.

What do you think the main reason for Kanter not interviewing with us though? Be honest. The June 2nd workout is not a valid excuse because he has full day workouts with everyone. He also declined Toronto and Milwaukee, where he would get plenty of playing time but they also have the reputation of being less "desirable" places to play. Interesting....

Honestly, it's because Utah sucks!

Take this with a grain of salt, because I have yet to have any credible confirmation, but here's what I have heard ..

Enes' agent 'spoke for' his client and unilaterally made a decision to try to push for a large market. His reasoning, as I've heard, is Enes has a huge, very likeable personality (this much is certainly true) and has a huge upside in the NBA. Agent feels he's doing Enes a favor by pushing him into a city where the endorsement potential is greater than that of the salary differential. As part of the story, Calipari and 'others' intervened and urged Kanter to interview and be open to every team in the NBA, to which Enes agreed completely. Thus, the June 2nd meeting as well as others.

Fair enough. If he is worth drafting he will put forth as much effort for the Jazz as any other team and if he isn't, then we wasted this opportunity in the first place. I don't think this will effect what the Jazz do on draft day.

Pkm,

Can kanter legitimately play center in the league? Imean not jefferson type center, but is he a natural? Is he going to bitch and moan the favors is in front of him? i dont wanr someone who is going to hinder favors development or piss favors off enough for him to want out.

Kanter's a fantastic team-first player. Doesn't moan, groan, complain, and is very hands-on when it comes to helping make his teammates better.
The question is can anyone keep him off the floor? From the time I've spent around him .. I say there's no way. I truly, truly believe he's a top 10 C/PF in the league by year 2 .. if not as a rookie.

But he won't sulk if he's playing backup.

Better "center" than Al? I love big al, but we could use an upgrade at the 5 and explore moving al for a wing isuppose. If he is a legitimate 5 iam somewhat intrigued.

This from Kanter's agent (Amick's SI piece):

"The only one I really didn't care for him [to go to] is Milwaukee," Ergul said. "I'll be honest ... it came out all wrong. [Utah general manager] Kevin [O'Connor] knew about it ... We called them, and it was because in next two weeks I had a feeling we were going to see each other extensively, so there's no reason for that [interview].

"Kevin told me he's really impressed with the kid and he wants to have him in Utah and he'll also come to Chicago ... I apologized to him five times for it coming out wrong, even though I didn't do anything wrong. He knew we were going to see them."

Leading me right into a trap here. Oh well, at the risk of being blasted .. yes, I sincerely believe (opinion) that Kanter is an immediate roster upgrade.
On a side note, I thought it was interesting that Calipari referred to Kanter as Karl Malone-esque. I don't really see that as a good comparison (at all), but found the statement intriguing.

I still love knight, but if kanter is willing to and can be succesfull playing center i would not be as pissed if we selected him and moved al.

Another interesting note from that piece:

While some teams have Fredette being ranked in the latter part of the first round, a source said there is a strong chance of him being taken with Utah's No. 12 pick. The prospect's business value is being considered along with his basketball abilities, as the losses of coach Jerry Sloan and point guard Deron Williams have left the Jazz in need of a player who can help re-energize the fan base. That would be quite the challenge for soon-to-be-second-year coach Tyrone Corbin, who would surely draw the ire of the Fredette fanatics if he didn't give him ample playing time.

If that's the case - it makes the chance of Jazz picking Knight even less likely...

I see this as almost PURELY a business decision. Therefore, it could hve little, if any, impact on #3. (?)

From ford on the same topic:

A lot was made on Friday about Kanter's decision to cancel a scheduled interview with the Jazz. Don't read too much into it. Sources in both Utah and Kanter's camp said it was mutually agreed that the Jazz would fly to Chicago on June 2 and see Kanter work out in Chicago. The Jazz will get their interview then. Kanter did meet with the Cavs, Wizards and Wolves this week and will likely work out there. It's no secret Kanter would like to play in Washington with John Wall. I'm not confident he'll last until the sixth pick
