Following potential 2013 draftees

thinking about Dallas last night an their cap space and what they might do in the draft. Since the draft is loaded with bigs go for a player to give nowitski time off (Len, Zeller, Plumlee). throw max contracts out for CP3 and Howard and try to bring mayo back.

That would make them major competitors in the west for the next 4 to 5 years.

They can afford CP3, Howard, Mayo, and Nowitzki.. plus the others?

So, TtT.. remember when me and your buddy Wes were arguing over Ben Howland? Wes was offering praise and criticizing my being critical of Howland?

Please let Wes know I was right .. right down to the detail that he would be fired after the season.

Haha. I do remember that. Where's that clown gone anyway? This is also very reminiscent of a convo you and Gyp had about Cal and Izzo. Cal's playing golf and Izzo's playing in yet again another Sweet Sixteen.

It's obviously because Michigan State has much more talent. Duh.

Someone may have said that, I'm sure, but I never heard it. For the record, here are the accolades I've either heard or I said myself;

Best freshman to impact the game, in modern times, maybe ever. (me)
Best shot blocker in college in modern times. (everyone/me)
I never said much about how he'll impact the NBA.. except general statements such as he'll be very, very good, etc..

Also, we have to listen very closely to what scouts, media, etc say .. most are referring to how a kid projects from HS to college or how a kid has impacted the college game. Other times, they are projecting the NBA.. and sometimes it's confusing/ambiguous.

Wiggins, for example, is being dubbed the 'next' at the NBA level and being called an absolute next Kobe, Lebron, Jordan. Davis was never spoken of in that way, to my knowledge, but more just tons of praise as a rim protector with loads of upside.

Chad Ford interviewed all the GM's of the NBA and compiled a list of the top #1 picks over the past 20 years (based on how high everyone was on the prospect at the time each was drafted). If I remember correctly, Anthony Davis was ranked at #6, just ahead of Allen Iverson and Dwight Howard. In other words, GM's were higher on only 5 guys from the past 20 years.

Not saying if I think he was overhyped or not, just giving some insight into how high the expectations on Davis were/are.

LOL.. interesting how you're so well versed in Wes' and Gyp's history here on JazzFanz...

He's already basically as good as Dwight Howard without half the drama and nonsense. Howard has been a complete disappointment. He's gotten more coaches fired than developed post moves.

Ai will always be a weird player to measure. On one hand he was a complete success and carried Philly on his back for years. On the other, he might be king of chucking idiots.

And also, for the record, I'm completely unafraid of sky high expectations for AD.

Damn it. Why can't Burke suck it up in the tourney. Now he'll be picked top 10.

I was expecting Michigan to suck as they didn't seem to have a strong front court with Morgan playing Center most of the year and Glen Robinson III playing pretty much the PF spot.

... but then Beiline pulled a genius move and suddenly starts McGary at center - and he has been a BEAST so far down there.

Hopefully Kansas beats NC today and eventually beat out Michigan in the sweet 16.

Dwight is definitely overrated. In all honesty, most of the supposed "superstars" aren't as good as the average basketball fan perceives them to be.
