What's new

Following potential 2013 draftees

I too value loyalty.. though I define the word a lot differently than most.

I'll say this; it matters little that someone is loyal if they are also incapable of knowing how to distinguish be lies and truths, savvy enough to know friend and foe... see what's coming from a mile away.

Agreed with this. And Walt Perrin seems plenty smart/savvy for this kind of job as well as loyal.

But we'll just have to wait and see...

Not the media.. but I'm hearing from a couple of friends/scouts that the amount of smokescreening this year has reached epic proportions.
According to them, there's an almost unspoken competition between teams to see who can make chicken salad out of this draft.

One told me the team he represents is waaaaay smokescreening (dumbing down) a player they want pretty badly.
He said even though it always goes on each year.. that this year it's like a sport in and of itself. I asked him which player and he wouldnt tell me. I won't share what team he represents.
I hope all the teams fall for it and Shabazz falls to the Jazz.

If we want a SF I really like James Southerland... Check out his stats and length versus the much hyped Snell and Bullock. He's a late 2nd in most mocks etc.

Also most mocks are reporting that Jazz has given a promise to Schroeder.

I don't think it's Jazz's style to do that kind of dodgy, backroom deal.

Doubt it.

Kings making a strong play at Bazz right now. They just got him back for a 2nd workout. They even brought back Snell to try and guard Bazz. I'm pretty sure they want the new GM to see their potential pick.

Pity Bazz couldn't go.

You just wrote a lot of something to tell us basically nothing.

Why do people believe you again?

Because I've given a lot of great info over the years. I don't care if its believed or not. What have you done.. besides be smug, arrogant, and banned?

K. The Finals are over. Time to go back to Draft-gasming.

Can we have an essay on who we should be drafting, based on the Finals?

- could Bazz have scored in that last minute if we gave him the ball?

- can Schroeder ever play at Tony Parker's level?

- can Favors ever be as dominant as Duncan defensively?

The league is dominated by elite athletes and exceptionally skilled players who are very good athletes. That being the case, there are a handful of players that stand out to me. They are:

Noel
Bennett
Burke
McCollum
Adams
Giannis
Olynyk
Schroeder
Rice Jr.
Goodwin
Ledo
Green

Any of these players could have been on the court during the Finals and been competitive. If we're lucky we'll get two of these players.

1) If Bazz's dad manages to manipulate video footage for the review and 3 others occupy the refs so they have to watch the review -> Yes. Otherwise: Don't know.
2) If their performance at age 18 is an indicator, I have to say I perceived Tony Parker at that age as way more impressive - even better than Dirk(That being said I was 13 yrs old when I saw Tony Parker and thought it should be illegal to be that good at this age)
3) Depends on how smart a player Favors is. I think Duncan is one of the smartest players out there(with exception of appearing in Tony Parker's rap video clips) Wouldn't be surprised to see him back at coaching one day.

Well, based on the Finals (and playoffs in general) I think we had two things reconfirmed.

Firstly, bigs that can play on both ends of the floor are invaluable. Even though I think Favors and Kanter will both be two-way bigs, it could be very rewarding to add a third. I'd have to look at more scouting reports, but right now I'd say the bigs that are most likely to contribute on both ends are Len and Adams. The latter might be in our range.

Secondly, outside shooting is a must. From the Warriors, to the Heat, to the Spurs, we saw quite the display of shooting. The value of floor spreaders (who hopefully can do other things, as well) should undoubtedly be drilled into our minds by this point. I think Karasev will be the best shooter from this draft, but other potentially great shooters like Glen Rice jr, Reggie Bullock, and so on should be taken into heavy consideration.

We should be happy if we can get two good role players from this draft to compliment the Core Four. If we got a great shooter with one pick and a potential two-way big with the other, I'd be very happy. Not that I'd be against taking players that don't necessarily fall under those descriptions.

But to answer your other questions...

Could Bazz have scored in that last minute if we gave him the ball?

Possibly. He certainly wants to take the big shot and has shown the ability to do it. However, I think Shabazz is good at creating his own shot within 15 feet of the hoop when he can play with his back to the basket, but he really needs to work on creating his own shot from the outside. Mainly driving and shooting off the dribble. As he is right now, I don't think Shabazz is the type of player you can consistently give the ball to and say, "go score." But he could get there. He's actually very good at moving without the ball and finding his shot within the flow of the offense. This is something I think gets overlooked with him.

Can Schroeder ever play at Tony Parker's level?

I'd be surprised. Tony Parker is quite the player. I don't think anyone from this draft will ever play at Parker's level. But Schroeder could a great defender and passer. I still like him at #14.

Can Favors ever be as dominant as Duncan defensively?

Yes. I really believe Favors will go down as one of the best defenders in franchise history. It wouldn't shock me at all to see him win Defensive Player of the Year at some point.

Can we choke epically in a Game 6 of the finals, and destroy the hearts and mind of our fan base....?

You say you don't care, but you do.

It's why you're always so sensitive to the subject, and so eager to share.

You're also incredibly easy to get riled up.

Yep you're right on the backup big thing. I think Adams would be perfect. Unfortunately we're missing a PG, so it is a hole that we also have to fill as well.

If we can somehow grab both Schroeder and Adams from this draft, I think that's a home run.

Like I said, I like that draft.
