Following potential 2014 draftees

Kobe Bryant's rookie season was a craptastic season.

Andrew Wiggins is a freshman in COLLEGE.

exactly. I think the mental thing is being overdone especially at this point.

remember just a few weeks ago when word is Wiggins wasn't even noticeable in practice, and wasn't one of Kansas best players.
laughable at best.

That was all Bill Self asking his buddy, Goodman, to write the article for locker room material.

LMAO

Calipari just had a live presser and I wish I had a transcript.

He was talking about starting 5 freshman for the first time in history and how much anxiety it creates for him because he has 20 things he sees they need to know NOW but they haven't grasped the first 5 yet... but anyway, he used that to talk about "knowing how to play the game" and he used himself as an example.

He said, "When I used to play I knew how to play the game. At the end of the game I would make a slow bounce pass to a fellow wing player. <asks reporter> Why would I make a slow bounce pass? (reporter asks, 'rather than a fast bounce pass?? I have no idea.') Because if I make a slow pass he'll be guarded and I'll be open and he can make a fast pass back to me and I can take the shot instead."

He said, "at the end of a game, tied up, game on the line, I've got the ball.. do I pass it to the open wing or pump fake? I pump fake 20 times so I get fouled and get to the line. I knew ALL the tricks."

<reporter asks> "So you were a selfish player?"

Cal said, "Yeah, I was selfish.. and that's the great thing about being old, these kids never got to see me play."

There were some real gems but those were a couple that made me lol.

Let's just see by the end of the season who has developed better: Kanter's defense or Favors' offense.

I just think we need a true 7 footer / shot blocker as our anchor and it may take a bit longer than if you take Randle/Parker/Wiggins, but ultimately you're gonna be a much better defensive team. And as you know DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS.

Not saying I won't take Wiggins, but if it's between Randle/Parker/Embiid, then I've got a tough decision on my hand.

From a purely defensive standpoint, Rudy Gobert might suffice.

So gordon and jabari will likely guard each other quite a bit amirite?

If drafted by the Jazz I'm sure Karl could find a way to motivate Randle.

It's weird. It doesn't seem like he lacks motivation, but rather has never really been taught basic defensive principles... which is entirely possible. He's a hard worker, has a desire to win, and has skill... so I see improvement on the horizon.

So you're saying he needs a good defensive coach that emphasizes fundamentals?
I know a guy, not sure you like him.

Well that's better then not caring.

Desire can't be taught fundamentals can be taught.

A. I'm more interested in what he can do development-wise in a long NBA career. There's only so much that college coaches can actually teach a guy in one year of school. That's why the best athletes are the best players. Coaching can only help them so much in that one year from HS to the NBA.

B. This is why I'm interested in seeing what type of coaches Randle, Parker and Wiggins need once they get there. The idea is to build a franchise around them. That starts with the coaching staff.

C. That also happens to be the main reason that I want Ty Corbin nowhere ear that player once they acquire him. I'm all on board with the tank to get the pieces, but all that hard work and rough season is wasted if Corbin is still in Utah in any capacity next year.

This week at JazzFanz.com it's Melo hater week. Order a limited Carmelo Cappuccino and a hero meat ball wrapped in sesame puns. If you don't choke afterwards something is wrong with the natural defense mechanisms of your body.
