Following potential 2014 draftees

The sliver lining in the draft lottery fallout is that the Jazz have the highest pick in the Western Conf. The top 4 picks are all going to play in the East.

Reminds me of the activity book "which one of these doesn't belong".

https://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=10969650 - i wonder why ESPN took down this video of a Chad Ford interview/clips of Vonlehs workout from 3 days ago...

I was gonna post it just for this one drill he was doing, he was easily picking the ball up off the court with either hand and dunking it in one motion, sort of like a Mikan drill. it looked like his hand was able to cover up half of the ball from thumb to pinkie. I recently read that he could palm a basketball at 6 years old

The discussion for #1 is over. Per Chad Ford:

"Joel Embiid's measurements at the workout on Fri: 7' 1" in shoes, 7' 5.75" wingspan, 9' 5.5" standing reach.”

Just can't really get excited about drafting a power forward when we have Favors and Kanter..

Assuming the top-4 go as planned, it's Marcus Smart/Aaron Gordon or bust.

What was gobert standing reach?

I'm a fan of Elfrid Payton at #23.

Chad Ford said he could go as high as #7.

Not that big of a fan of his. Can't shoot the ball.

Shot 36% from three and lead the NCAA in turnovers with 127 in 35 games.

That's around 3.6 per game.

If he was there and we took Gordon at #5, we essentially just took two guys who can't shoot.

Can somebody give me some reasons to get excited about Vonleh?

Also how he would fit in with the Jazz?

He can crush a man's skull with his bare hands. Jumped higher than Blake or Derrick at the combine. Legit 250 lbs. Shot near 50% on three. One of the youngest players in draft.
The Jazz would use a 4 big rotation of Favors and Gobert at center. Vonleh and Kanter at PF. Eventually one gets traded, but we have enough time for them right now.

Vonleh is a great kid, it cant be repeated enough. Theres very little chance the $$ gets to his head, its deeply ingrained in him to be a hard worker. His family moved to the US from Liberia a year before he was born, parents divorced when he was 13 and he grew up watching his mom work 2 nursing jobs and from what i understand she kind of... on his case..

hes got 2 younger sisters and theres a story about his mom saving money for a year to take the family on a dream vacation to disneyland, he got there and didnt want to go on any rides and made his mom find a YMCA to drop him off at for 10 hours a day to play basketball, every day for the 5 day vacation.

thats just how much of a gym rat he is, if you check basketball related boards in the philly/ new england area you will see a thousand, 'holy **** i played this guy in a pickup game' posts. a total gym rat who played 1000's of pickup games to try to improve his game, his coach at IU said if he put a cot in the gym, Noah would never leave, hes very concerned with improving his game.

he finished over 50% of his bachelors this year at IU, also showed up on campus like 2 days after HS graduation, so he could start working right away, he was with Zeller and Oladipo while they were preparing for last years draft, and in the last year or so hes put on over 25lbs, at 18 hes just scratching the surface of his potential but he certainly has the work ethic to make it happen.

A lot of work to just disappear in games and not demand the ball.
