Following potential 2015 draftees

Russell is a better offensive prospect, but I am not sure he's a better prospect overall. Exum is of the type of players you don't trade this early, simply because the ceiling is so high and his current value is so low. It's probably at its lowest point right now.

Another thing to consider - you seem to suggest that the reason for trading Exum for Russell is so we would be able to contend/fight for playoff spot next couple of years. Are you sure Russell will be better than Exum next year? Or even the year after? I am not. Rookies in general don't help you win, especially at PG spot, which is one of the hardest positions to learn in the NBA. There are very very few rookies who have contributed to the win total in their first year in the league. In fact I would be willing to go on the record saying that Exum is very likely going to have a better second year than Russell's first year.

I think Russell will be better than Exum next year but I get your point. It's really about where I think these guys will be in 2 years. I see Russell as a lillard like type of pg. Porty only won 5 games more his rookie year then 21 more the following year. I know lillard was older when he came in the league but Russ is further along than dame was his freshman year.

I don't see the crazy ceiling everyone else does with Exum.

IMO, its because he went from playing punk *** bitches in Australia to playing grown *** freaks of nature. Its obvious he has the physical tools, he plays pretty smart for a young kid .... he just lacks strength and confidence. 2 things that are pretty easily gained. By year 3 I think he's a very very very good PG.

Hopefully he is a very good by year 3. Year 3 will be super important because it will be Hayward' last year of his contract (if he doesn't take the player option) so we will need a strong team to convince him this is where he wants to stay.

The NBA owes us a dynasty for not calling the push off. They should have given us Wiggins, but we will take Russell.

NBA gave us Kanter by moving us up from 6 to 3. Debt has been paid, unfortunately. In hindsight, Knight would have been an awfully good pick had we just remained at #6.

If you look at what Exum is starting to do defensively, you will be less inclined to move him. Trading Exum for Mudiay isn't guaranteed to be a good move. Trading him for Russell...I guess that comes down to the style of PG you want. It would be a win if Russell can do what he's currently doing vs. NBA-level defense.

The best move might be to stay put and draft the best available wing. Exum might be able to shut Russell down defensively.

I would be willing to trade Hood and our pick for Hezonja.

No one is going to give us Russell for Exum and draft picks. If someone like LA or NYC is going to try to sell Russell they will be asking for a super-star. That is what those big markets want, super-stars to win now so they can sign other super-stars in FA. They don't want a slow rebuild.

Sixers might... They like to collect opportunities for superstars and LA might as they were rumored to be high on Exum last year. They also understand, I think, that until Kobe retires their rebuild is going to be slower... They can pick up additional an additional prospect (other than randle they have basically none) plus Exum and another pick in 2017 or 2016 why not. No big FA will go here until Kobe is gone. I think they are looking to future FA classes rather than the 2015 group.

NY will likely be looking for the quick turnaround. I don't see them moving the pick. Orlando wouldn't be interested and neither would minny IMO. Denver? Maybe... They did well trading down last year although the pick wasn't nearly as high as this.

You may be right but I think a couple teams would consider it.

That would be another alternative is moving from 11/12 to 6/7. I wouldn't use hood to do it though. I like him and his trade value is prolly not terribly high because of his injuries.

I see where you are coming from, but you don't trade a player away if you think they have superstar potential.

What if you think player A has superstar potential but player B has more superstar potential?
Then you would make the trade for player B right?

As well if you think that Player B's floor is much higher than Player's A. You have to look at probability to hit that potential as well.

I am hoping russell has a bad game in the tourney and they get killed in the first round. He is also the type of player that might slip when he goes to athletic testing because it won't look great.... Who am I kidding? We just need to win the freakin lotto. I hate this system.

What type of pick does everyone think we could get for Burke/OKC or GSWs pick? Cause I personally don't love Burkes fit with the team long term and I think if we could swap him and another pick for a late lotto pick in this draft we should look into it. I'm also of the mind to wait for Exum to develop a bit more rather than switching him out for a Russell. Would love to have Neto come over as well, love his game.

Looking at

Exum/Neto
Wing from draft/Burks
Hayward/Hood
Favors/Booker (though personally I'd like to switch him out for Ed Davis this offseason)
Gobert/Big from draft

Wing options- 1. Mario 2. Johnson 3. Oubre 4. Winslow
Big options- 1. Stein 2. Turner 3. Kaminsky(I think he's being way underrated in general, might put him ahead of Turner)

You want to give up Burke and keep Exum and Neto? While that might work out thats a huge risk as neither has done squat in the NBA.

I guess I'm feeling lucky, but I don't know if I have any sort of accurate gauge on Burkes current value.

Second round I'm looking long and hard at Dakari Johnson if we didn't go with a big in round 1.

I think Layman from Maryland could be a good fit. 6'9" 3&D guy with a 7' reach and nba athlete. Little bit of a project since his shooting is incon but still a good pick at late 1st early 2nd.

So when we jump to top three in the lotto, do we pick mudiay, towns or russell? I like all three very much.

If neto comes over he needs to be our 3rd PG. We'd need a vet in between him and Exum.

looks like Justin Anderson is slipping and I wonder if a couple seconds would be able to snatch him late in the first round.

I assume he's injured... what is his injury. I liked him a lot.

Towns is too much of a "potential" pick. Not a huge fan of Mudiay. Got to go with Russell.

Towns would be KILLING it if he wasn't on Kentucky. He's playing great but his stats are pedestrian due to the extreme talent he 's playing with. I think he's a solid contributor in the NBA from day 1. Not sure if he ever becomes elite though because he's just a solid athlete, not a great one.
