What's new

Following potential 2017 draftees...

Gonzaga listed Collins as a forward. Draft Express calls him a PF/C. He could play either position depending on match-ups and the team he's on.

I understand but next to Gobert I would rather have a big wing that can shoot and create than a Collins or Lauri... if we move up I hope it isn't for Collins because I don't see him as a great fit next to gobert.

Once you're outside of the top 10 or 12 of this draft, it's not clear you're getting a better player than you could get at 24. Maybe there's some drop off around 15, but the draft gets pretty flat and subjective from there.

Yeah I'd say 14-15ish and then its an eye of the beholder thing or some home run risk/reward guys. Good draft to have a couple chances though.

I think so too. I think this draft will be like 2011, where picks 3 or 4 through 10 are meh, and players in the teens and twenties will be very good.

I think Collins has Serge Ibaka type upside. PF who can shoot without a ton of game feel.

Bad comparison. Collins coming out of college has advanced post moves compared to Ibaka now.

He played dudes in the WCC.... Give me a ****ing break.

He is very similar to Serge Ibaka. Dont give me that BS about post-moves. Comparisons doesnt mean they are the exact same ****ing players, ****'s sake. Collins had some hook shots against WCC players. Wow.

He is long, athletic, and has a shooting stroke that projects to the 3pt line. He can protect the rim and finish around the basket. He lacks the ability to really feel/see the game. That is basically a dead ringer for Serge Ibaka. Sorry they dont check every box.

Damn bro, a little passionate about the comparison? Lmao, I don't see the similarity at all on the offensive side of the ball. Don't be so defensive.

It's just annoying as **** that you point out one little thing like that completely negates a comparison. And you call me the ****ing contrarian. What does that make you?

Name me some other players that are 3pt shooters and shot blockers and have that combination of length and athletic ability....

Collins doesn't seem quite as quick or explosive to me as Myles Turner per the eye test, but that may be racial bias. Otherwise that comparison might be tempting. Collins hasn't played in enough different situations to show what he'll be exactly, but he's working with some compelling tools. Turner was a more dominant shot blocker throughout his freshman year, though Collins showed flashes late in the season and in the tournament.

I would say he looks quicker and more explosive than Turner.
