Following Potential 2025 Draftees

With Hendricks' injury and Cody Williams having significant question marks, the Jazz really need their top pick in this draft to hit. I'd look for them to be somewhat risk-averse and take someone they're certain can be a major contributor, even without major strides in development. If they don't get a top-3 pick, I think they'd go with Egor or Kasparas. Then they'd have a high-level lead initiator with some two-way upside, something they sorely need.

Edgecombe is a bit difficult to envision because he really needs the ball to be effective on offense, but he doesn't look to be efficient or skilled enough to have it consistently.

Tre Johnson is bigger and should be better than Keyonte at the 2-guard. He's a nice option in the top 6 or so picks, but he doesn't look like he's going to be an on-ball creator consistently, which does limit his upside a bit.
yeah, i think Tre Johnson a pure SG. not even really a wing. just a SG who can guard some 1s and 3s.

Supposedly he's 6'6 w/ a 6'10 wingspan, so he's definitely a wing capable player size wise. But I get what you are getting at in that he doesnt really rebound or defend, so playing him at the 3 next to two guards who are smaller than him seems less than desirable (unless one of those guards is someone like Dylan Harper?)

Tre Johnson looks to be way more versatile as a shooter/scorer than someone like Hawkins…but he still has that one trick pony concern for me. He needs to be VERY good at scoring if he’s not doing anything else on the court.

After watching Devin Booker last night, I think Tre Johnson's ultimate ceiling might be Devin Booker?

Booker didnt really do much outside of scoring in college, but really transformed his game in the NBA to be a complete player. I havent really watched any Texas games yet, but people say Johnson has good intagibles for leadership.

Has anyone actually watched Donnie Freeman? He's scored 20 or more in 3 of the last 4 games. He looks like a really good athlete from this video. Very quick with the ball and a good cutter, and the 3pt shot looks good despite only being a 30% 3pt shooter (and he shoots 84% from the FT line on solid volume). Very disappointing stocks so far with someone with his size and athleticism.

I had the same thought. More realistically, he’s headed towards a Cam Thomas level imo. Great scorer, not much else. But there’s a world where he can evolves like Booker. Plenty of in between results like Herro as well.

He has Devin Booker exact size tho, which puts him above a Cam Thomas comp imo and will allow him to be a good defender if he puts the work in.

Devin Booker is elite….chances are the majority players are not elite. I agree with Booker as a ceiling as I said, but very few prospects exist where I’d say their realistic comp is a top 10ish player.

I also think the difference between Book and Cam is also more playmaking/IQ related than size. That’s where Tre needs to take his game to get to the next level.

He comes in below Asa Newell and JT Toppin for me. Just less athleticism, less energy and less impact. He settles for jumpers a bit too often.

I watch JT Toppin and I think -- here's a guy who could develop into someone like John Collins in 5 years. Then I realize we already have John Collins and we're trying to get rid of him.

Less athleticism? I dont know enough to call either way, but ball in hand in the open court he looks extremely fluid and athletic. His jumper also looks far far better than Newell or Toppin.

Less physical. He does look pretty fluid for a 6'9" PF. His FT numbers look good.
Just someone I want to eventually dive deeper into and watch an actual game. He could be one of the Freshman who return and have a big 2nd year, or he could come out and be a great pickup with the Cavs pick. Was the 6th ranked prospect by ESPN, 15th by 247. His fluidity in movement and shooting looks like he can be the rare 4/3 tweener type who can develop into a true wing.

just in HS a couple times. always liked what i saw. he's been up and down at syracuse - was benched at one point (not sure if still) - but yeah, his upside is pretty much limitless with his size and athleticism.
