For those of you who don't like Jimmer...

I think the same people who say you can't teach Jimmer's ability to shoot, would agree that you cant' teach someone to have a work ethic. You can teach defense, but if there is no effort then why bother? He stands around and does nothing on defense, waiting until someone else gets a rebound, at which point he runs circles around the court calling for the ball constantly.

There is no doubt in my mind that the Jazz will draft him.

it's impossible to tell. We have no clue where we'll be picking and who's even coming out yet.

Of course, I'm sure had Jimmer played up north wearing red you'd be advocating him for the #1 overall pick, right?

I can't see the Jazz taking Fredette in the top 8, as long as one of Derrick Williams, Kyrie Irving, Perry Jones, Harrison Barnes, Enes Kanter, Jonas Valanciunas or other top talent are available. But if it comes down to Fredette vs. an athletic wing whose offensive game is raw, or one of these Euro Ilyasova types, I could see them picking Fredette. Maybe they'd flip their pick with another team a couple spots down in the draft. The Jazz like having a combo-guard in a three-guard rotation, so much that they even pushed Howard Eisley, Derek Fisher and Ronnie Price into that role.

I think they'd look first for an explosive, game-changing wing, then a highly talented center (unless they're totally sold on Tomic), then consider a player like Fredette.

But put it this way: I think Fredette would probably have a bigger impact on the Jazz than Hayward or the other wings we were looking at last year (Xavier Henry, Luke Babbit and Paul George). He's physically mature and ready to play now. If he does nothing more than spread the floor for Kirilenko, Jefferson and Favors to operate, he's doing his job.

I could also see the Jazz making a trade on draft day, using a player like Miles, Tomic and a pick, or maybe Okur's final year deal.
 
I wouldn't take Jimmer at 6 but I would consider him around 14-16. My biggest worry about Jimmer is he going to be able to adapt to not being the star on the team. I think he can play but he certainly will struggle with the length and athleticism in the NBA. How is he going to handle not taking 20 shots a game. The other reservation I have is having to listen to myopic Jimmer followers thinking he should play more. lol. I wouldn't want the Jazz to pick him because he would put people in the seats. If he is the most talented player on the board then pick him.
 
Could he even be compared to Steve Nash?
A shooting PG?
Can he handle ball or pass like Nash?

White people are rarely explosive athletic freaks with 40" vertical jumps, but I wouldn't say they're mostly stiff. There's something in between. Ostertag is stiff. David Lee is mildly stiff. AK isn't. Nash isn't. Dirk isn't stiff. To be honest, Jimmer isn't stiff either.

Since we're talking elephants in the living room here, has anyone figured out what race Blake Griffin is?

Although I agree with your sentiment, I still think that Redick is a better comparison. The height, speed and shooting ability all match up to Redick. Jimmer does have a better handle and can create for himself and has marginally better passing skillst than Redick. But even then Jimmer's level of skill in these areas is not NBA PG caliber by any stretch.

You may be right about shouldering the load though I am betting that is a big generalization. And Jimmer may be a great shooter, but his shooting percentage is much more a function of periodic and ongoing terrible shot selection. Most coaches would turn over in their grave watching the shots he takes. He has plenty of shooters around him - more than most college teams, and yet he still shoot ill advised shots all the time.
 
The Jazz have a golden opportunity to get something decent this draft, why blow it on Jimmer? He has deficiencies that cannot be fixed. You can't teach him how to keep up with the freak athletes in the NBA, especially on the perimeter. Jimmer can shoot which means he is nothing more than a niche player. The Jazz would be foolish to draft a niche player with a top 10 pick.

This is 2011, not 2008. Jason Kidd was drafted all the way back in 95 and hes not WHITE. Damn, man. Damn.
