Game 1: Utah Jazz @ Los Angeles Lakers, 8:30 p.m MT..Game Thread

The Kings beat the Lakers, a lot of people predicted that they would have rebounded that game. Hopefully the Jazz game isn't the one they rebound on.

The Analysis

Jazz will need to power over the Lakers bigs and outplay their PGs. Ebanks is off to a strong start this season. Teams usually regress towards where they were last season. Though the Lakers started rather weak, don't count them out. Even though they are on a 3rd back to back to back, Kobe can still score.

Who to watch on the Lakers:
Ebanks: Shooting 78% to start the season. Not scoring high digits, but giving the Lakers an efficient and productive 20 minutes a game.

McRoberts: Josh is off to a terrible start this season. For the Pacers last year, he was at +2.

Who to watch on the Jazz:
Devin Harris: Will he recover from the dismal performance last season? Will he run the offense?

Gordan Hayward and Derrick Favors: Even though they showed flashes of brilliance last season, they were still a net-negative for the team. Can they turn it around this season, and push us ahead?

Forecast

The numbers project a W

I (my heart and mind) project a W

Go Jazz!

Demands trade to the Knicks. Stern objects. Kobe winds up in Minnie.
Simultaneously, Minnie becomes the first NBA team to play all of their home games outdoors on asphalt in an elementary school parking lot. Kobe loses body parts to frostbite in an epic triple overtime showdown with the Cavs only a week later. The contest is unfortunately not televised.

Lakers are tanking the season to get another superstar!
Could happen. Lakers end up in the lottery and move up into one of the top 3 slots. Then Howard and CP3 join as FA's. I know CP has supposedly promised he'll stay with the Clippers through next season. But throw enough money his way and Stern won't be able to stop the move like he did with the trade.

Pumped for this game. I expect Kobe to go into Kobe mode. Hopefully someone is game to rough him up.

today in my dream i was a jazz player, and i helped the team comeback in the 4th quarter against san antonio, but i missed the buzzer so we lost by 1. I can interpret that tonight's game as we may lose by 1

He didn't "supposedly" promise, he signed a 1 year contract extension.

I really hope the Jazz win this game.
Not only will we win our first game of the season, but drop the Lakers to 0-3.
That would be a fantastic 2 days after Christmas present.

You guys do know the Lakers have Played hard for 2 games now, right? They only get around 14 hours of rest. Why do you all feel we are going to do absolutely horrible? We've had plenty of time to practice, watch game film, and most of all we're fresh. We should not lose this game. This isn't your ordinary LA Lakers.

It's just that I've been hurt so many times before...

Also a lot of people have been saying Favors on Pau and just recently a few people said Al on Pau, which is what I believe as well. Al did well on Pau last season and is less likely to pick up the cheap easy fouls a vet like Pau can put on Favors early in the game. Later in the game when Pau could be a bit tired is when to put Favors on him, IMO.

When watching pieces of and highlights of the CHI vs LA game I was thinking two things there's no way the Jazz get the calls and no calls CHI got and I doubt LA plays that bad against Utah (didn't see any of the Sacto game) but who knows, anyway you slice I'd be pumped for tonight's game but now even more so.

I think Al on Pau is most likely. I think McRoberts absolutely sucks, but he may be too athletic for Al to handle.
