Game 2 - Jazz at Suns - 11/1/13 @8:00 PM Mountain Time - Root Sports, 1280/97.5 The Zone

ROFL Gobert twitter:

"I played like a b*tch today, tomorrow is another day"

Enjoy this candor before the Jazz SS mutes him like they did Kanter

Sometime today deep in the halls of the ESA a small group will gather round Gobert and someone will say: "Rudy meet Jonathan, he is going to be overseeing your reeducation."

I still love you Rudy.

damn, how i wish hornacek was our coach

hopefully this will be the final season of ty

so we missed on hornacek and brad stevens, who's next?

FWIW, Kanter doesn't look right to me, but he is still putting up good numbers. While many point out his physical condition, I am more concerned with the mental mistakes, and the looks of discouragement he wears on his face.

Last night he turned and tried to dunk the ball and got stuffed by the rim. He was too far out and was fouled but the crowd still laughed at him and he wore that on his body language.

Two nights ago he caught a pass on the high post, held for a moment and then threw it to the scorers table, and he looked like a beat puppy after.

Locke said that Kanter was discouraged in the preseason, I hope the Jazz coaches can help Kanter get it right between the ears.

Lucas is shockingly bad. Is there a better PG for a tank than a scoring PG who can't score? He played 31 minutes, 2-10 FGs and 1 assist. You gotta love it, baby!

He's super annoying too. Like a real life teletubbie. He's going to be on some most hated Jazzman ever lists in a few months, especially for those with tickets close enough to the court that can hear his in-game chatter.

I felt like Hayward gave Bledsoe a little too much room. It was obvious he was going to shoot it. I wish Hayward would have used his height and bogy to get in him more.

If he had done that Bledsoe would have driven right by him which is what he had been doing most of the fourth quarter. I believe he hadn't hit one outside shot before the last shot. I tip my cap to Bledsoe. Sometimes good defense isn't good enough. Besides the fact the Jazz lost this game at the FT line and with all the dumb turnovers. This should have been a eight point victory for the Jazz.

All the Ty haters are out I see. The Jazz didn't lose the game because of coaching but I am sure the haters will find some way to pin this on him. Two games into the season and people are already bashing the coach (yea I know the haters never stopped). I see a lot of improvement on this team from last year.

I thought that game was a lot of fun to watch. Hayward's shot was clutch... and so was Bledsoe's. I can't blame Hayward for playing him the way he did... Bledsoe was 1-5 from three or something like that, but had been tearing the Jazz up driving. It was a clutch shot and a fun game.

corbin is still here only because this is a rebuilding year

he'll be gone after this season just like his buddies big al, raja, howard..

I don't understand the pessimism anyway. Dude got 20 and 10 while playing like a putz for stretches. Remember the Bobcats game last year? That's in there somewhere. Injury ****ed it up. Also, he needs a haircut

To a certain extent, this is very true. He's one of only a few players to have two double doubles so far, and he just does not look right out there. If he pulls it together, he should be the player we thought he'd be.

So you have some inside information you want to share. I have no idea if Ty will or won't be here but what are you going to do if he is re-signed. Are you going to whining about every little thing he does.

The most obvious thing is that Kanter isn't in the shape he was last year. He doesn't have the same quickness or lift. However, he is working hard and his effort is there. I think he will struggle for a while until he gets in better shape but he will need another summer to gain strength and quickness. I know his stats look good but he took a lot of shots.

You would think that ty would have favors do the jump ball instead of kanter (I don't think we have won a jump yet)

Also at a timeout midway through the first quarter, ty made a mistake by not putting burks in at the timeout.
Immediately after the timeout he sends burks to the scorers table but it should have been done during the timeout.... there was not another whistle for a few more possessions and when there was a whistle it was jefferson getting fouled and shooting free throws...... so burks had to just sit there on the court in front of the scorers table waiting to come in the game when he would have already been in if corbin would have done the substitution during the TO. (When he subbed gobert in)

Just two pretty basic things that ty screwed up on in just the very beginning of the game. (I left to go to the comedy club at the end of the first quarter or I would probably have a longer list of ty screwups..... I will watch the game on dvr today)

Oh and the the fact that burks played more than 10 minutes less than the rest of the core, and even less than the superstar lucas3, and is basically splitting minutes with jefferson.

When rush, marvin, and burke get back I'm quite sure that burks will be playing around 15 minutes per game no matter how well he plays while they are out

I wonder if teams should play that scenario at the end of the game differently. When the other team has 15-20 seconds left and the game is tied. I think it might be smart to make them change from what they want to do. Around 7-10 seconds, you are going to know what it is they want to do, a pure iso or a PNR so take that play away. Yes, they might get it to an open guy but it would be more of a scramble, more of an unexpected situation. Instead you are just letting them focus and get what they want, what they expect.

Last night, it was very apparent at 10 seconds that they were going to let their best shooter iso and get the last shot. So send a double team at him, make him give up the ball and get it to a lessor shooter who is not expecting to take the last shot.

I don't think bledsoe is thier best shooter

Agree with your premise though

Colton I hope your joking. Kanter is playing great considering he is coming back on injury and couldn't play ball this summer. Yes he is making some stupid mistake, mostly on the defensive side of the ball, but he is really playing hard. He was our leading scorer and rebounder tonight.

No, I'm not joking. 8 of 22 shooting?? I expect more, even if he did end up with 20 points. Yes, I understand he's coming back from injury and couldn't play ball this summer. He's doing fine with that taken into account... but my post was about him in absolute terms not him in relative terms.

Kanter is doing fine...

But his loss off size and strength is noticeable. Just look at his arms. Kanter used to be a beast. Not anymore. Even his explosiveness (which wasn't great to begin with) is a lil down.

He'll bulk back up. He obviously knows how because he's been there before.

His biggest problem (and it always has been) is passing out of the post. He's almost as bad as Big Al on the block.

With the difference that he can actually imagine being better, and has some court vision, however limited right now.

If Hayward's agent is looking for a Paul George like deal then Hayward's game is doing him a huge disservice.

So I'm not going to totally disagree in the sense that Hayward isn't looking like a max player through two whole games. But the dude nearly had a triple double last night, hit a clutch shot, and certainly had his moments. I think his second half offense was obviously a problem, but I had to think he AND Bledsoe were probably both overthinking the contract sitch. Bledsoe had home court, though, and sunk a killer shot. This is one time when I feel the talk coming from agent and FO is on the up-and-up: let Hayward play a full season in a more pivotal role (hopefully with an NBA starter-quality point) and see what he's worth. I'll guess it'll come back as less than Hay and his agent wanted, but I'd be glad to be proven wrong on this point.

I like how this team is coming together. If they had a bench they'd be competitive with 90% of the teams out there.

I knew that was going to be the answer.

Number 1 if Bledsoe is going to blow right by him how good is he? Why is he guarding the guy taking the last shot? and we'd have no help defense?
Number 2 he could have crowded him a second earlier not giving him much time to "drive right by him".

Also, playing way off a guy can sometimes make it easier to blow by people. Get right up in his grill. The only worry I see if he could foul him.

Anyways laying off him didn't work, so there nanny nanny.

It's so fun to watch this team compared to last year. Win or lose, I love it. This is must-see basketball for me.
