Game 2: Utah at Golden State. TONIGHT! 830 ESPN

Kinda sucks that the buzz from game 7 will have dissipated somewhat by the time our guys roll into town. They were truly great in game 7.

Rose is an absolute disaster. He can't hit open 3's, he can't defend, he went AWOL on The Knicks for about 2 days this season after Horny benched him in the 4th period of a close game.

No, no and again no.

With all that disaster in a disasterous team he still made 18-5. Funny isnt it? I wonder what he would do in Jazz system which would capitalize his skills and cover up defensive flaws.

Lets be serious, we cant win a championship with current squad even if they play together 10 years. As good as Hayward and Gobert are, they are nowhere near Lebron, Kawhi, Harden and likes. Hard to be a contender without having a single top 10 player in the league. So we need a third really good player. Hill, even if he is healthy all season, cant give us that lift from being a good team to a contender. In the offseason we should desperately push for him or Jrue Holiday. (since we aren't able to get CP3)

I mostly agree with your post but your first sentence in the second paragraph said: "Lets be serious, we cant win a championship with current squad even if they play together 10 years."

We still have not seen this current squad play together yet. And we still won a game 7 on the road in the 1st round, then played the best team in the league by far close in their homecourt with our starting point guard out, favors barely alive, burks out, and shelvin mack playing 31 minutes.

Call me crazy but a roster with Hayward (who is still getting better btw), gobert (still getting better), hill, hood (should improve still), ingles, healthy favors, JJ, a much improved Exum and Lyles (both are really young and I expect big improvements from both) and maybe something from bolomboy plus we have multiple first round picks in a loaded draft next year.....
I think if the team can be healthy, get some good improvement from lyles and exum, and draft well then we would be championship contenders.
Plus quin is still learning and improving as a head coach.

This team went from 20 wins to 30 wins to 40 wins to 50 wins over the last 4 years and won their first playoff series in a long long time.

Now is not the time to freak out and panic. If the jazz can keep this roster together and draft well and have a bit of improvement from guys that should be expected to improve then I believe we would be contenders

We have an athletic beast just sitting on the bench in warm up clothes.

Who? Favors?
We need more of a Burks with consistency, balance and decision making or Exum with ballhandling and finishing skills. Gobert's athleticism enough for the front.

That 22% from 3 scares me though.
Plus his assists were closer to 4 than 5. And 2.3 turnovers per game to his 4.4 assists isn't the greatest ratio. Plus he gets hurt a lot (hasn't played a full season since 2010.... 39 games, zero games, 10 games, 51 games, 66 games, 64 games over the last 6 seasons) and I don't think adding another injury prone dude is the best idea for this particular team.

And we still won a game 7 on the road in the 1st round,

We shouldnt have the series slip to 7th game at all. And even in 5th game, we could have won with double digits easily. We just dont have the firepower, that strong punch right now which is certainly needed to contend for championship. One good tweak in the lineup could make this team a 60 win contender. Not favorite for championship like GSW but contender and thats what we all want. And that tweak is finding an explosive guy who can score and make others play. Not Westbrook but John Wall type of player. Since we cant get Wall, D-Rose seems like the only close player who will go FA this offseason. Maybe im wrong but he is the best option for PG i feel.

No. Favors played. He wasn't in warmups all game on the bench. Guess again.

Silly thing to say. They were the higher seed. We were the underdogs bro. We had never been in the playoffs before. Your expectations were way to high apparently.

I know, it is something to consider his injury history. But if he was healthy in last seasons and could chuck up the threes, he was in mvp talks near harden and westbrook now. So it is a wild call and a risky move. I just think he as too much upside comparing to his weaknesses and we dont need to spend 20+ m p/year to get him.

If Rodney and Lyles show improvement his 3 flaw will not be that important i think.
Think like this, if he is healthy we will be contender, if not we will not be worse than this year. I would take the call, but i dont think our GM would make such risky moves.

They were the underdogs for me after Griffin got injured. The day he was injured i told myself we will win this in 6.
And we were the much better team on court in those 4 games after his injury but 5th game. So my expectation to beat Clippers who couldnt even beat Gobertless Utah wasn't so high.

What does that even mean!
That could mean they relaxed and dropped their standard.

Let me ask you some questions. I want your honest answers.

(Only looking at guys that i think the jazz will try to keep around next year or are already under contract)
Do you think Exum improves next year?
Do you think trey lyles improves next year?
Do you think alec burks improves next year?
Do you think Derrick favors improves next year?
Do you think rodney hood improves next year?
Do you think rudy gobert improves next year?
Do you think joel bolomboy improves next year?
Do you think gordon hayward improves next year?
Do you think joe johnson improves next year?
Do you think joe ingles improves next year?
Do you think george hill improves next year?
Do you think quin snyder improves next year?
Do you think dennis lindsey has drafted well with late first round picks?

My answers?
Yes, I think dante exum improves a lot next year.
Yes, I think trey lyles improves a lot next year.
Yes, I think alec burks improves a lot next year.
Yes, I think derrick favors improves a lot next year.
Yes, I think rodney hood improves a lot next year.
Yes, I think Gobert gets a little bit better next year.
Yes, I think bolomboy gets a little bit better next year.
No, I dont think hayward can get much better than he was this year. But i have always doubted him and he has always proved me wrong so who knows.
No, I think Joe Johnson gets a little bit worse next year.
No, I think joe ingles stays about the same good.
Tough one. I think hill might play a little bit worse but should be healthier so im gonna say overall with better health he provides more production next year.
Yes, I think quin snyder improves next year.
Yes, I think dennis lindsey has drafted well late in the draft and since we have multiple picks in the first round next draft i expect him to add 1 or 2 good players to the team via the draft.

We were a 51 win team with TONS of injuries (might have led the league in missed games again after leading in that category last year) and made it past the first round of the playoffs in our first try with this squad even though the injuries to gobert, burks, hill, and favors continue to plague us in the playoffs and hayward even gets food poisoning.

The Future of this team is extremely bright if we can keep these guys together.

Impossible layup that barely missed and wasn't impossible at all?
What was the +/- for X again?

Exum is playing better than expected. Should get more minutes, probably. OFF BALL, OF COURSE.

But, still, smh at the +/- Robots and the idea that this is a valid critique to what Cy said.

Fish U forgot one key question to add to that list tho lemme do the honors;

Does the field improve next year ?? (to that I say YES)

It is always a bummer to lose but I like the fight that the Jazz put up and I feel hopeful that we can get game 3. If we win game 3 I think we have a chance at game 4 and can at least make GS work for this series.

Hayward had a good bounce back game. He was much more aggressive and played well all around. He needed a little more help.

I loved seeing Exums energy and him attacking. I liked that he tried to take it at Curry 1 on 1 even if he failed a couple times on it. That aggressive mindset is what people wanted out of him and he showed it in the playoffs. I think he deserved a few more minutes but I am glad he got 14 minutes. Although I think 20 would have been more appropriate this game. I am very high on him. I think Snyder is high on him as well so we will just have to see what his long term plan is for him. I am sure he has a reason for how he plays him. He has some flaws but I think consistent playing time and role across next year, now that he is recovered from his ACL, will do him wonders. He will also get a healthy off season to really work on things. It is hard to work on anything including shot and handle when hobbled from a major knee injury.

Gobert played better this game but I still think he can step it up. Hopefully coming home will help him step up to another level. GS has no one that should be able to slow him down.

Mack had an decent game filling in. You cant blame the loss on him. There is things he could do better but overall he was pretty solid. His defense is rough but he put in a good effort.

We dared Green to beat us from three and he did. Hats off to him but its not a bad strategy he is shooting .308 from three this season which is worse than Lyles shot this season. You have to conceded some shots to the Warriors and he is one you take a chance on. Had he shot his season average that is 2 or 3 less 3s so 6-9 less points and this game actually gets pretty close possibly. Warriors were hot from three and are hard to stop when they are. Everyone was saying watch out because we lost by 13 on bad three point shooting but they had a great shooting night and we were even closer in this game.

We still played sloppy at times but it is nice that we won the turnover battle.

We have to win the rebounding battle now. They came up with a lot of balls we should or could have got, especially some of those O-boards to give them second chances. To beat the Ws we have to win all the little battles.

Its nice we had even FT shooting. I thought there were some bad calls but I would not say we were on the short end of the stick the reffing was fair. I also like that we made our FTs.

I wish we had a healthy Favors or even the Favors we had against the Clips. I think he would make a huge difference.

This series is a bad matchup for Joe Johnson and Diaw. They cant take advanatage of players as much as they did against the Clippers. Ws have a lot more length and athleticism to bother both of them. Diaw did have a decent game though. I am glad he saved his good 3 point shooting for the playoffs.
