What's new

Game Of Thrones

What are the scenes that stuck in your mind so far from the show?

Mine's got to be that scene in the first season when Daenerys had to unwillingly sleep with Drogo when she was sold to him for marriage. Just the expression on her face... can't seem to get that out of my head for some reason.

Maybe as a Thai tranny prostitute you empathize in a certain way?

Wow ok, I try to stay clear of the red light district in Thailand.... just not my thing. :(

I dunno why foreigners find those places so inviting.. LOL

When you're on shore leave it's all about the red light district.

Oh yeah and a little reminder of this one

3 to 5 days but you'll usually have duty one of the days or if you're really unlucky two of the five days

It's alright. I've been out of the navy for nine years

Is it a good lifestyle? Do guys quit after a certain age to come home and start a family?

To answer more fully, I was married before I went into the navy and I've never cheated on my wife in any way. So I had started a family about the same time I joined the navy. I joined for six years and my first two years were all training. I did everything I could to get stationed in San Diego because both my sister and my wife's sister lived there from before I joined the Navy. Luckily the way it worked was top grade got top pick and I always got the pick I wanted. Eventually I got stationed on the USS Nimitz (CVN 68) stationed in Coronado, CA. I lived in Rancho San Diego. I played poker at the Sycuan Casino (when I wasn't running the best game on the ship)

I left the Navy because I preferred to stay married and have a role in my son's life. Truth is, other than that, I loved the Navy and would have gladly done 20+ years.

Good on you for serving the country. You must be immensely proud to have had a job that actually meant something, serving real a purpose, not just out to make a quick buck.

LOL

I sat on my fat *** while the ship I was on floated around in the Persian Gulf. I took the job I did seriously, very seriously, but I never did a damn thing that made a difference. My bucks came plenty fast.

Here I am proudly serving my country... I hosted games six nights a week when we were underway.

For some perspective on where this game was taking place...see the red circle.

I know this Thai girl who has an American bf who's supposed to be some sort of marine or something. He's based in California but gets to fly to various countries in SE Asia every 3 months to attend 'meetings'. Sounded like a crusy job except he's still single, no family, etc. He stays in the most expensive hotels every time he visits bkk too like the 5 star Intercontinental costing like a fortune apparently. Dunno where the US Govt. gets all the money for all that... LOL ... but it sounded like a pretty sweet deal for 'serving the country'.

Good night One Love.

Let's talk about Game of Thrones in this thread tomorrow.

It's stupid how excited I am for next week. I think this is going to be the best season. It just feels that way. The show is liberated from narrowly servicing all the big moments in the books, and can make its own path now. This season could have a whole new energy. Plus Dorne.

How so?
