I think he's better coming off the bench but I don't say that because I don't think he can handle starting, I just think we need to be able to give that punch to the mouth to the other team. He def needs minutes when he's producing though. Also, Corbin is an idiot.

Agree. If Corbin wasn't so rigid in thinking he has to play a slumping Hayward 38 mins and Jefferson 31, maybe Burks, who clearly DESERVES 30+ would get them. I don't mind Burks coming off the bench. He can really take over against opposing 2md units. But he should be getting more playing time.

He's doing that to starting line ups too, so why not start him.

If Burks is the best player on the team, and right now I believe he is, him not getting the most minutes is perplexing and yet one of many Ty's failings as a head coach.

Burks has made the last 10 points I believe. He has 25 points on 10 shots (60% fg) 13/14 free throws. In 22mins. There are no reasons why he shouldn't be getting 33-36 minutes consistently.

actually there is, we need to develop jefferson and secure jeffersons future.

VET POWER!

Im fast becoming a fan of Alec, put together nice games of late. Hope Favors is ok might help the tank even though its in flames at the moment

Fair enough. Maybe you are right.

Sure sucks as a fan though when you really like watching a player and you are forced to watch raja bell, cj miles, and randy foye while your eyes bleed.

Maybe it was better for burks though.... i dont know

Spending time on the bench in one thing, not playing at all is another. The 0 min games for Burk were still a joke, and that was the message all along. No one said he should start early in his career, but he didn't deserve DNPs. He would get rewarded some nights for bad play, and benched for good play. It was the mixed messages that people had a problem with. Remember Cyrone said Burks was nothing special, said he wasn't a regular rotation player in this league, blah blah. He was flat out wrong about Burks. Now he is a stubborn sob, and will never admit it, but that is the truth.

Please find the post where I say this.

Yeah, I don't think he is an All-Star. I think he is a good scorer who is best suited to be a 6th-man type. Currently I think the Jazz need to start him because the two starting playmakers (Burke and Hayward) are struggling to generate their own offense consistently.

Nope rev, you are way off here.

Almost every great player in the nba started off thier careers by playing behind crappy vets (raja bell types) and racking up dnp's while never getting consistent minutes and constantly changing roles/postions.

Kobe, wade, lillard, love, durant, harden, rose, westbrook, aldridge, wes matthews, cp3....... all these guys got a bunch of dnp's in thier first few years playing behind washed up crappy vets.
Corbin is just following the blueprint layed out for him

1. draft a talented young player in the lottery.
2. Play a horrible old player in front of him
3. Constantly change his minutes around and give out lots of dnp's
4. never give him an actual role or postition within the team
5. when he plays great in summer league and preseason and works hard on his game and busts his but at p3 and other off season camps....... repeat steps 1-4.

One of these things is not like the other.

if there is no striuctered system ofcourse they will strugle

Ya well lots of people still think burks is not really good so i included an average player in there as well to show that even average players get brought along the way that corbin brought along burks.

James Harden MPG his 3rd year: 31.4

Alec Burks MPG his 3rd year: 27.4 (and has been steadily rising, will probably end up around 30 when the year is over)

Hayward's stat line was 17-7-7-3-2 and no one is talking about it.

The lack of Hayward appreciation is ridiculous. If he did this last year before all the contract stuff got blown out of proportion all we would hear about is Hayward being God.

If Hayward's shot was anything like it has been most of his career that same line is probably more like: 25-7-7-3-2. He will get it back.

How many dnps did harden get in years 1 and 2? How many players as bad as raja and cj did harden play behind?
Im not complaining much about what corbin is doing with burks currently.

I have been arguing that burks should have been playing more than raja, foye, howard, cj, and maybe even hayward...... and if not playing more than those guys, burks should have at least been getting a consistent dose of minutes each game instead of dnp's.

Hey you think giving dnp's to a young talented player and playing him behind the crappiest vet you can find is the way to go.... thats fine, we will agree to disagree i guess.

I think hayward will be a very good player....... hell i think all of our core players are quite good. Always have, I have been consistent about that.

it has been steadily rising because of injuries.
last few games it has been steadily falling AGAIN!

in favor of richard jefferson who in no way is part of utah's future.

that alone is stoopid beyond believe.

please get of corbins nuts

Its crazy to me to think that burks was getting dnp's in his first two seasons considering the jazz didn't have a single wing player even close to being an all star.

I think that if raja bell, cj miles, and josh howard dont get injured in burks rookie year then he would have had another 5-10 dnps that year.

If mo williams doesn't get hurt in burks second year then alec probably racks up another 5 or so dnp's.

Alll because our roster was so stacked at the wings in those years? Foye, raja, hayward, marvin, carroll, cj, howard. No room for a talented young lottery pick with studs like that occupying the wings right?
Just crazy to me.
