George Hill coming to Utah

Hill is a great pick up and giving up our draft pick in a watered down draft was a risk, but a good risk to take. We've desperately needed to add depth especially at the PG position and we did that. The biggest risk that you could argue is that George Hill is a UFA after this season and signing with the Jazz would be unlikely in that we will probably lose him, come end of season. Greg Popovich has always said great things about him after they were unable to retain him. Should benefit the jazz this season at least

Except for the fact that his agent has already said the Jazz was a team he was going to consider signing with, loves DL and good friends with Hayward, and the Jazz can extend him before the season starts. IMO there's a better chance he's here long term.

I take back Utah got the bad end of the deal. Atlanta wasted a number 12 pick on Prince, LOL.

Now I "understand": NCJ evaluates evaluate the quality of the Utah move based on the "the player Atlanta chose" and not "the player Utah could have chosen."

So if Atlanta had chosen Gary Payton III, it would have further improved the quality of the deal for the Jazz.

I know it's a highlight reel but there are a fair few clutch plays in there, great defender and I'm in, welcome to the Jazz Mr Hill.

Hill is a much better fit for the Jazz than Teague is. He will cost less and I would assume he will be more okay with a bench role than Teague would when Exum gets healthy because he's been there before. You have to remember the team still has hope for Exum. Getting Teague may have caused tension over the starting pg job, Hill hopefully will not.

I've never disagreed with any of this. Every word you said is spot on.

I've just said that Teague is better than Hill and minimizes risk if Exum doesn't pan out.

For example, trade for Teague. Let him play out his deal. If Exum pans out, let Teague walk and sign Hill next summer. Then we end up in the same place.

BUT, if Exum doesn't pan out, then you extend Teague and end up better in the long run. And you can still sign Hill next summer.

I feel that is the better way to go. Like I've said, I feel my way is the A++ move and Hill is an A+ move IF Exum pans out.

GHill is a really good pickup for the Jazz guard crew,he'll be a good complimentary player .But the last two years Indiana is only one game over 50%.
It makes for a good sound byte,"Jazz want to win now" but they finished only two games under .500 with Exum,Burks,Favors and Gobert hurt for all season and major parts of the season. It doesn't take much imagination to think Jazz could have been 10 games plus in the win column with a healthy team.
So I think a healthy Exum,Burks,Gobert,Favors gets Jazz "winning" moreso than the trade for GHill.

This. bern is acting like Hill is suddenly going to put us over the top and we will now win over 50 games because of Hill.

Hill is a very nice piece and fits in very well with this team. He definitely makes us a lot better. But he is a role player and hopefully a backup up PG by the end of the year.

A great trade, but we probably still aren't a 50 win team and if Favors and Exum don't get healthy, we probably aren't a playoff team.

They are already healthy.

Hills addresses several areas of need.

Shooter, constant D at PG, vet experience and leadership, chemistry and off ball ability. Hills value is magnified by Utah's roster. He is exactly what this team needs at PG.

Now I hope he isn't all Utah does this offseason but he is a fantastic addition. Fantastic.

Honestly, I think Hill is a top 15 PG. A guy like that definitely gets us to 50 wins...I mean, look who we've been running out there at PG. will he be a star? Of course not, but he will be incredibly vital.

The way I see it is that while Teague is the better player, Hill is the better overall and more versitile player, and Teague may only be the better pg because of style of play. I've never been very high Teague as a player

This was literally a bunch of gobbledygook.

Idiot!!

The revelation that Teague played last year with a bad knee would make me very concerned about they type of future investment it would take to lock him up long term. Hill doesn't have the health issues and legitimately sounds like he wants to be in Utah.

Besides. . . Jeff Teague is a Quin Snyder guy. If the Jazz wanted him, I have to believe they'd have gotten him. They got the guy they wanted. Just wish they'd have ended up with the Pacers 1st round pick too. Oh well.

We are still betting on Exum. I think they realize Hill works better with Exum. I see them playing together, and Hill
being a second string if and when Exum explodes. Teague has to be the man, and would not sit for Exum.

The level of Exum delusion around here is insane. If Exum ever explodes it's probably still a ways out. If Exum ever turned into the kind of player Hill is I would be happy. Exum will play back up pg with some minutes at the 2 but he won't be a starter this year unless we are hit with injuries. Hill is a better pg. Hood and Burks are better at the 2. All 3 of those guys will play ahead of Exum clear through the playoffs this season.

The Exum hype is a little over the top. In my mind, he is a rookie again. The first few months will be just shaking off rust. Then you have the mental obstacle of getting over the ACL which can be much longer. I don't see a real strong season, but am still optimistic in the long run he can be a great point guard.
