What's new

Gordon Monson is getting destroyed on Twitter...

Why still be bitter?
Because it’s part of the grief process. Everyone always thinks it’s somehow healthiest to jump straight to acceptance. **** that. We haven’t fully checked anger off the list. Oh, and I doubt too much of us are stewing on him (he’s not mentioned all that frequently), but when there’s a reason he comes up, let that hate flow through you. This is sports. No need for maturity lectures. Pure emotion.

...and I've never been happier. Couldn't happen to a ********, more moronic human being.

Bill Simmons started it off:

Tony "My Hot Takes are Never Wrong" Jones defending Monson:

Bunch of other takes as well that I'll link in later.

You clearly only read the tweet from the Trib that Monson himself didn't even write. The column was fine.

Also a what if:

What if we stopped giving a **** about a player that didn't want to be here, go butt-hurt about a bunch of petty ****, never stood up for his teammates--or himself--and has played a grand total of 6 minutes for another team this entire season and what if we only gave a **** about the players that are here and the dope *** **** that has happened this season and the bright future?

Kinda reads like a meaner version of Monson's column.

fair enough

Every second I spend thinking about Hayward is a second that I can't spend thinking about how great Mitchell, Gobert and Quin Snyder are.

Hayward wasn't perfect as a player, but I really liked his game and it sucked that he left, and left if a way that crippled the Jazz ability to respond. Also, I felt rejected as a fan that he ignored our billboard campaign and that made us look really desperate.

At the same time, I wish that the local media would stop talking about him, especially since he's injured and won't be playing this season because it makes us seem real small time, salty and petty. And it's not necessary, because what the Jazz are doing is such a great story.

That last paragraph is basically the Monson column.

The article is laced with vitriol, almost comically. He was never a good enough player to make me care that much about carrying on the hate. Some fans need this stuff to fire them up, to each their own though I guess.

Comparison to DetrayWill: Williams issue was he wanted to stay and win being the top dog. Haywood put his tail between his legs and ran off wanting to be a mating bitch.

I can understand "coach killer" but not the bitch.

Our high school girlfriend left, but we got a great new job and a cooler girl who likes us better. Why still be bitter?

Because it's sports fandom. I don't get why people compare it to real life. If sports fans moved on, there'd be no rivalries. We haven't played the Rockets in the playoffs in a decade and the Shot happened long enough ago it could walk into a bar and get a drink. Does that mean I treat the Rockets as any other team? **** no. I wanna beat them every time and then want to go on Clutchfans and delight in their butt-hurtedness. That's how sports fandom works.

Nothing says “we’re over you” like an article bashing a dude laid up in bed with a cast on his leg who led the team out of the gutter and to a playoff series win.

So ****ing salty, Jesus. Hayward can do whatever the hell he wants. He took less money to do what he wanted with his own damn life. He owes you people nothing.

Need to win first before shooting our mouths off. Boston going to have a field day after they overwhelm our offense with their D. They're a good team and Jazz have struggled of late.

And we owe him what? Honesty.

That's it.

Unlike his teammates who he owed at least the courtesy of being direct and manning up about his “decision” in person after the blood sweat and tears they’d shared.
And his coach and GM who gave him every possible advantage and opportunity to advance his game and career, he didn’t owe them a phone call if not talking to in person ?
And the organization /owner .. he didn’t owe the Jazz organization any common courtesy ?

He’s a limp douche. The manner that he left in couldn’t have been more a slap in the face and he will forever remain a *****. K ?

And Joe Johnson really led us to a playoff series win.

Hayward isn't even playing?

I really don't think we should care. The Jazz haven't had this bright of a future in a long time--never in the Hayward years could we be so optimistic. We have a player who legit could be the first option on a championship team. We have the best defender in the league and a guy who will go down as one of the best defenders ever. Mitchell and Gobert are two hall of fame talents (obviously, anything can happen. But the talent is there). We can find a new third cornerstone--Hayward leaving sucked, and he is a great player, but he is also replaceable. Mitchell and Gobert are the special talents that are rare, and that you dream of getting, that we have watched everyone else in the league have for a very long time. We are no longer stuck on the treadmill of mediocrity. Honestly, Hayward leaving hurt us in the short run, but in the long run we will be fine. We might even be better than we've ever been. We have players who have the potential to finally bring the chip to utah. We didn't have that in the Hayward era.

This is not to bag on or dismiss Gordon. obviously he would be a great third piece for this team. But like someone above said, his destiny is to lead the Pelicans to the tenth seed in a season or two. I just don't get the obsession with hayward. Our high school girlfriend left, but we got a great new job and a cooler girl who likes us better. Why still be bitter?

This post is basically exactly what the article said lol.

There was no Hayward bashing in that article

Please. Don’t count the losses/struggles before they hatch. Jazz have been pretty decent over the last 30 games or so.... I’m guessing they may even have a better record than Boston over that span and probably played a tougher schedule. Also they are at home and Boston is missing their best player. Maybe give us a chance in this one?
