Hayward isn't even playing?
I really don't think we should care. The Jazz haven't had this bright of a future in a long time--never in the Hayward years could we be so optimistic. We have a player who legit could be the first option on a championship team. We have the best defender in the league and a guy who will go down as one of the best defenders ever. Mitchell and Gobert are two hall of fame talents (obviously, anything can happen. But the talent is there). We can find a new third cornerstone--Hayward leaving sucked, and he is a great player, but he is also replaceable. Mitchell and Gobert are the special talents that are rare, and that you dream of getting, that we have watched everyone else in the league have for a very long time. We are no longer stuck on the treadmill of mediocrity. Honestly, Hayward leaving hurt us in the short run, but in the long run we will be fine. We might even be better than we've ever been. We have players who have the potential to finally bring the chip to utah. We didn't have that in the Hayward era.
This is not to bag on or dismiss Gordon. obviously he would be a great third piece for this team. But like someone above said, his destiny is to lead the Pelicans to the tenth seed in a season or two. I just don't get the obsession with hayward. Our high school girlfriend left, but we got a great new job and a cooler girl who likes us better. Why still be bitter?
