If GS tanks I'll be pissed. But I doubt they will. I actually think Steph will play much improved with Ellis gone. Stephen Jackson's no slouch either. Here's to hoping!

I hope Wes is right.. I'm at least glad he's providing the positive spin I can eventually delude myself into believing.
 
A lot depends on what Stephen Jackson does. If he goes nuts scoring, they'll win some games they wouldn't have won otherwise. Ellis, like Jackson, is very streaky. Jackson can also rebound.

Only two or three games ahead in the win column for top 8.

Depends how the team plays. They'll likely never catch the bottom five. It's the other 5-6 teams that ar the issue.
 
For somebody who watches a lot of Warriors basketball (I live in San Francisco), I feel comfortable saying this isn't a total tank job by Golden State. Monta Ellis may put up impressive point totals but his teams don't win. He's possibly the stupidest player I've ever seen, the Warriors offense stalls out whenever he comes in and it turn into Monta's "And 1" performance.


I think they'll be a little worse, but not dramatically worse. Depending on how SJax responds, they could even be slightly improved. Seriously.

That's what I'm worried about. I already counted on Milwaukee and Cleveland finishing ahead. The key teams would be Detroit, NJ and Sacramento. All are about 4 games back. NJ sounds like they'll be trading an injured Lopez, Brooks and parts and getting Howard and Turkyglue. That should net quite a few more wins for them. Sacramento has a ton of home games left. They could also catch GS even without a trade. And Detroit had been playing well until their loss last night.

Without Ellis and Udoh, I don't see GS with much chance of finishing better than 7th. This is EXACTLY the right move for GS to make. They take a flyer on getting a great center IF Bogut recovers from injury, get rid of a player that probably wasn't going to stay in Ellis AND they'll likely drop 4-5 spots and keep their pick.

And I agree with Wes that Jackson won't tank, but Jackson can't control the GM. What are the protections on the pick?

GS has 28 games left. March doesn’t look that bad, but in April they have a lot of road games. Here are the approximate head starts it has on these teams. Jackson better kill it!

Milwaukee (3.5)
NY (3.5)
Cleveland (3.5)
Detroit (6.5)
Sacramento (7)
Toronto (7.5)
New Jersey (8.5)
New Orleans (13)
Washington (14)
Charlotte (18)
 
Aside from the "Tank Trade"

GS is playing Sacto today. Very important game as Portland and Pheonix could both fall behind GSW today if GS doesn't lose.
Portland is tanking hard. It's very strange, they looked like a top 10 team in the pre season IMO.
 
Mark Jackson "guaranteed" the Warriors would make the playoffs this year. GUARANTEED! Do you people ****ing not know what GUARANTEED means????
