I think we should get way way way ahead of ourselves.


Hayward will win the MVP multiple times in his career, and by the time it is done, people will say "John and Karl who? Are they Hayward's valets?"

Truth is that Nastiness just isn't something Hayward has. Psychologically, that's not in his make up and I think I am okay with that. He's a good dude who wants to win, works hard, and makes his teammates better. He'll likely be a solid glue guy on our best teams in the next decade. Personally, I am okay leaving the nastiness role to someone else rather than Hayward trying to fake it or try and be something that he's not. I think What Hayward has can be just as important to the team: Poise, model of professionalism, contributor of comradery rather than a deterrent to it.

I agree with your assessment of Hayward...that is also why it's so hard for me to ever see him being anything more than just a solid role player in this league. You need to have some nastines/agressiveness/killer-instincts in you if you want to get to the next level in the NBA. I can't think of one superstar that lacks these qualities...
