Hollinger REALLY high on the Jazz

....a fantastic turn of events would be to unload Jefferson, keep Sap and still end up with the 6th pick! But who in the world would take Jefferson off our hands? I can't think of any imbecile in professional basketball that would do it, can you? Could we possible package Jefferson along with the rights to Klinko, Tag, Harpring and future draft choices and an undisclosed amount of cash.....AND.....a player to be named later to make it work???

Jefferson is a 1sd round playoff exit type of player. He can bring a team near to that.

There are teams out there who would want to go to their next level from low to average. They need Big Al type of players.

What we need, is to move on from that 'average' position.

At Best Buy today, I overheard KOC tell the salesman that if he would stop trying to sell him the *bleep* extended warranty, then we would trade Jefferson, Bell, and our 2nd round pick to New Orleans for Eric Gordon, the #1 pick, and the #10 pick.

I agree with this, and I'd even think of throwing in the GSW pick as well. It's the same thought process as trading DWill where you control what happens. We could make the trade and know we'd get a decent piece that will be on the team for a minimum of 4 years, or we could keep Millsap who may prove costly to resign or who may get plucked away by another team, and hope that the GS pick is 8-10 again next year in a weaker draft.

I bet the Bucks would trade 12 in a deal involving Al Jefferson. Their centers are Kwame Brown and Larry Sanders right now. They could draft Tyler Zeller, but Ellis and Jennings aren't going to wait around for a rookie big.

I bet Houston would trade 14 to us in a deal involving Millsap, and probably they'd send back a back-up PF, given that they have a ton of them and such.

Portland would probably do a deal, but they'd also try to stick it to us, since that's what they do.

I bet the Jazz could effectively trade their GSW pick, but would have to do it after the draft, since Minny gets our pick this year.

Phoenix needs help everywhere.

Orlando needs a re-think. New Jersey is in a quandry and obviously works well with us. Philadelphia needs an inside game.

I agree that is a potential landing spot for him. Milwaukee has also showed through past signings they don't give a rats *** about defense.

I think it's pretty hard to say that the Jazz are in a better places when they currently have nothing that stacks up to the obvious #1 pick in this draft and Eric Gordon. Everyone's super hard about Favors, but the guy - whether because he just hasn't been good enough, or because he just was not given great opportunities - just hasn't done a whole lot yet. And while everyone was super high on Hayward, he was absent for 3/4 of the playoff games and still has yet to play anythin resembling a consistent season. Hopefully both of these things change in year three, and there's reason to believe that it will, but that doesn't change that Eric Gordon is better than anyone on the Jazz as of the end of the season, and that you can probably bet Davis will look real good an pretty quickly.

At any rate, the Jazz are in a good place, but the way the draft pick situation unfolded was absolute horse ****.

They have been consistently one of the best defensive teams in the NBA (at LEAST with Bogut and Skiles [who is still there]). Hard to say they don't care about defense.

Eric Gordon could be great, but he is also an injury waiting to happen.

I think both are in equally good positions, just depends on who can develop their talent. If the Jazz can get both Favors and Kanter to be playing on All-Star levels, with Burks being the athletically dominant scorer and Hayward being the glue/shooter, we have an extremely well balanced team.

I'm excited to watch him. I saw some interviews of him and he already looks substantially bigger. He will always have a weakness getting backed down because his lower body isn't that big, but he will have more than enough length to compensate.

He actually has a very big lower body. His calves are almost massive, in fact. He'll be able add plenty of strength/bulk .. but it will take some time. He gained about 30 pounds since enrolling at UK.

I guess I will have to take your word for it, but he always seemed pretty skinny south of his waist to me.

According to several of the people I talk to on a daily basis, Utah is in talks with 2 teams in the top-10 trying to get a pick. They're asking for 2+ players and possibly some money. I'll try to get more details.

I think that Al Jef + GS pick could acquire us a pick at or around ten, and honestly I think removing Jefferson would be addition by subtraction. Getting a PG who could spend a year learning the offense behind Harris would be fantastic and set us up really nicely moving forward with a core of:

Millsap

(If we had to trade Millsap I'd hold out on the GS pick I think and try to trade Al at the deadline for a late first or something)
