So let me understand this correctly then. The Jazz already have 4 possible studs. They will have a lot of cap space next off season. They can use that cap space to add more young talent and pieces that could help the team in the future?
It sounds like the rest of the NBA should be very afraid of the Jazz in about 2 years. This is getting exciting.
thriller let's try to keep up.
Thriller let's try to keep up. I believe Hollinger is really high on the POTENTIAL of the group we have. He's not talking about Harris/Millsap/Jefferson, he's talking about the 4 young guys we have and the fact that it's possible we have 4/5 of our lineup set IF they all work out.
Yeah, I know.
But look at what we have. Burks can get to the basket, but cannot shoot from the outside.
Hayward can finish real well on the break, but has yet to show real ability to create and score (from the outside).
kanter? Has a very long way to go. Like I said, people kept pimping him up to be this Pau Gasol or Dirk type international star. Lets be realistic. If he turns out to be Luis Scola, we should celebrate.
43% from the floor 33% from three. That isn't bad for a rookie with limited playing time, no defined role, and no preseason to learn anything. The kid ain't a prodigy, but he is a really good player.
Wade - 46 and 30.
Durant - 43 and 28
Westbrook - 39 and 27
Joe Johnson - 43 and 27
Korver 35 and 39
Dirk - 40 and 21
Kobe - 41 and 37
You get the point. Those are all those guys' rookie numbers. Burks fits right in. Burks has the talent, does he have the work ethic or the coach to take advantage? We will see.
46% fg 35% 3 pt. That ain't bad. 3 assists, 1.7 turnovers. Not great, but not bad, especially when your offense is give the ball to Jefferson and then stand around.
The Jazz have two problems right now. Al Jefferson and Ty Corbin. I believe that had KOC not brought in Jefferson, Deron and Sloan would still be here. The guy is the worst thing to happen to team basketball. He is a Carmello, Marbury, McGrady, etc. He gets his, no matter what. Problem number two is Corbin. The Jazz have talent, they have promise, they have cap room, they have trade pieces. They are in a prime position. If KOC can somehow turn Jefferson into a first round pick this year, he would be a genius.
Yeah, I know.

Favors is really the "only" guy that has proven much.
Ontop of everything, we have yet to see a coach that knows how to use timeouts, adjust, or exploit matchups. Just look at what Boston is doing right now. They're exploiting matchups. Lobbing that ball up to KG. Look at what OKC did, adjusted and put Sef on Parker. Look at what these teams will do in the next game or two. Adjustments.
Corbin? Never any adjustments. Keeps everything the same and continues to hit his head against a brick wall. Look at how many of us complained about not seeing our Tripod lineup? Well... Eventually he used it. When? In game 4? When we were already down and outta the series?

The worst thing to happen to team basketball had one of the best TO:Ast ratio's for a big man in the league.
Stop with the hyperbole.
Shhh....facts and stats aren't allowed here.
In all seriousness though, Big Al has to go.
I look what Greg Popovich could do with such players like Kawhi Leonard, Boris Diaw.. Ginobili and Stephen Jackson from the bench. And everybody respects their role on the team.
I'm wonder what he would do with Big Al on the team.
What I have bolded is why I wish that Al was an ******* of a player. He's such a nice guy that I just have a hard time rooting against him. I know that he's not a good fit for our team and that if we want to get better, he needs to go but I still want him to do well. I really like the guy.
Probably the same thing he did with ball-stoppers like Richard Jefferson and Roger Mason - trade/let 'em go.I'm wonder what he would do with Big Al on the team.

Over the years R.C. Buford and the Spurs have targeted virtually every type of player - aging veterans/undrafted rookies, American/International prospects, 1-dimensional shooters/tough-minded defenders - but the one thing they've never gone after is a bigman who was solely a low-post player. In the first half of the decade they had Duncan in his prime to dominate the low block, but now they place a premium on bigs who are versatile enough run pick&rolls, think on their feet, and most importantly keep the ball moving. Al Jefferson is sort of the antithesis of what the Spurs are all about.

Once again, you're taking where the players are at now and using that against them. Not one of those 4 is over 22 years old. Believe it or not, they still have the ability to improve. I know...shocking, isn't it? Young players can improve.
Not one person has compared Enes to Pau or Dirk or even Scola...mainly because those would be terrible comparisons. Enes is a banger with a good mid-range shot, just because he's from Europe doesn't mean you have to compare him to a European. But I guess we should have expected a 19 year old who hasn't played competitive basketball in over a year to just light up the NBA..I mean, how dare he not be ready to go right away?!
I'm not saying that any of these guys are going to turn in Jordan/Kobe/LeBron, but we have a damn good core right now with our young guys and it is a reason to be optimistic.
