Hollinger REALLY high on the Jazz

Hope I don't get in trouble, but I just wanted to post a snippet from his insider article today on the lottery results:

Utah: The Jazz had the possibility of adding a No. 8 pick to their already amazing stable of young talent (including Favors, Gordon Hayward, Enes Kanter and Alec Burks); if their 1-in-4 shot at the pick had landed and they nabbed local product Damian Lillard, Utah's starting five would have been set for the next decade.

Instead, the Jazz have no first-round pick at all this year; their own went to Minnesota in the Al Jefferson trade. But they still may be a big player on draft day. Utah retains the rights to a future Golden State first-rounder and is sitting on $30 million in expiring contracts; don't look now, but the four kids mentioned above are their only players signed past next season, when they'll have approximately a trillion dollars in cap space.

In particular, look for big men Jefferson and Paul Millsap to be in play. Utah might lose Thursday night, but its long-term future remains brighter than that of any other team on this list, New Orleans included.

Also in his chat, he mentioned that we could probably trade Millsap to PDX for the #6 pick this year.

This is why trading for AI, Gasol is just silly. We are in amazing position, why screw it up with old players with big deals? If you like the Pau suggestion, remember how much you like Memo, AK, Ostertag, Harp, etc, etc, etc at the end of their deals. No thanks.

I'm still on the Pau bandwagon. Did you not read what he wrote? A TRILLION IN CAP SPACE!!!

Yes, yes, and yes. The idea that "we don't want to draft anyone this year" is ludicrous. I would be all for a reasonable draft-day move which landed us Lillard.

There's only one thing better than a stable of young talent - a bigger stable of young talent.

Make moves to get younger and better, don't sandbag ourselves via trade with ****ty contracts and veterans who may or may not be a terrible fit.

(...that said, don't trade Paul. I want Paul to embrace 6th man and be our 6th man for the rest of his career).

Would adding Pau still hurt our ability to sign 1 max player? What about Okafor? Both of them expire the in 2014 so it wouldn't effect our ability to sign Favors or Hayward.

With the situation the Jazz are in, I would only want them to trade for a veteran that's a great three-point shooter, unless that veteran would make the Jazz serious title contenders right away. I don't think there is any one player that would make the Jazz contenders right away.

I like this thought as well. If we can somehow get into this draft by taking on a contract that lasts another two years would be worth it. Only if it is Jefferson we are trading.

I need you to pretend that you have some insider stuff about the Jazz trading someone to get into the draft. I just need something to keep my Jazzfanz spirit up.

I'm spent .. and very disappointed. I was told the GSW trade was 'done' and there was no hair on it. I'm afraid to ask and get my own hopes up. Only thing I've heard is there are ongoing talks with ALL of HOU, CLE, 76ers, and POR. If I get anything add'l, that seems substantial, I'll share.
