How do we fix this team?

What this team needs is a 6’10” PF who shoots a lot of threes, averages 20/10, and is sitting on the curb with a sign saying “Free, take one,” but we all know that ain’t happening!

Oh, wait...

Why not let Allen, Naz, Bradley and Cavanaugh have a turn? Would send a message to the starters that we expect production and effort.

Did you miss the game? 35 shot attempts and 0 assists. A PG he is not.

So... it was only one game but here is the deal. Your team isn’t shooting straight and no one else on your team is able to manufacture shots individually. You also have a good defense. He’s going at Jimmy Butler and has Embiid waiting for him. Embiid was staying close to Rudy... but still in a help position... so mid range was open. There aren’t obvious reads on the perimeter guys weren’t moving to the open spots on the floor a lot. Like it’s hard to get assists when guys can’t threaten the defense or aren’t making shots. He threw it to Ingles on that step back three because there was some motion going on in the play. Ingles was open and missed it. He missed a couple opportunities to drop off to the big.

So you are kind of the only option to score. If a guy feels like he can defer them he takes more of a playmaking approach. If he’s off ball and his focus is supposed to be attacking and scoring then isn’t he more susceptible to tunnel vision. If his role has more nuance and we have other guys capable of either knocking down open shots or creating offense... then he can defer more... spot up more. Also, I want him to develop the pull up three... that is what unlocks everything for him. If that doesn’t come he’s still great... if it does he’s an offensive force on Hardens level.

Watching him play more on ball defense against Fultz and then having to switch to butler who is bigger and stronger... I’m somewhat convinced the defense won’t fall off because DM will be more disruptive guarding opposing pgs than he is on the wing.

But cap space, free agency, continuity, development, cakk baking, faith, our guys... you know that stuff.

Does that fix the defense though? Our offense has had its struggles but when you look at team rankings it isn't terrible. It's the defense that seems to be letting us down. Which I would have never ever expected with this group.
Defense plays better after made baskets and when the offense doesn't turn the ball over. So to answer your first question, ya it kinda does.

I'm ready to start Mitchell at PG.

Mitchell, Rubio
Burks, Exum
Ingles, O'Neal
Crowder, (Favors)
Gobert, Favors
I would love to see that starting lineup. Wont ever happen this year though, guaranteed.

Anybody who compared Rubio to Rozier simply doesn't understand the game.

Rubio needs the ball in his hands to be affective and effect the game. People want Mitchell to control the offense more and I agree. Well, Rozier can play off the ball with Mitchell "running the point." Rubio is worthless in that situation because he poses no threat.

I bring up Rozier so much because he is a realistic target. I might like Dinwiddie better, but he isn't realistic at this point and time.

I want change because we need it. If Rubio was worth a 1st and Hill was worth a 1st, Rozier is definitely worth one.

The team needs is quin to start playing different players that's it. Instead quin playing players that are playing poorly try other players. Just cause he loves certain players doesn't mean u play them. I honestly think quin is the biggest problem

I have no problem with the first part of your post (rozier can play off ball). and that he is realistic. What i dont agree with you about was in a previous post when you said rozier can flat out score and is a lights out shooter. He is neither a great scorer or a great shooter. He is a poor and inefficient scorer and an ok shooter.
Also, hill being worth a first shouldn't be brought up in relation to rozier being worth a first. Hill is much better. Mirotic apparently wasn't worth a first to the jazz. using that logic, there is no way rozier would or should be.

Actually he may be referring to Jonas too... holy *****alls we’ve made some moves around the fringes that look rough right now.

Both hill and Rubio were worth a first to Hayward... when pushed DL brought guys in... honestly I thought Hill was worth it... was really meh on Ricky.

DL when not under outside pressure won’t give up a first unless it’s a home run... Terry ain’t that.

A first might land Dinwiddie though... and he’d be worth it because he has a low cap hold or could extend at a good value number in season (I’m not sure if we could extend him though... rules are weird on that with traded player). They might do it because they have a cap space dance and roster configuration stuff going on with Russell.

We need to play HORSE a lot during practice and warmups, with big bets to simulate game pressure. Might end up with three hour practices but eventually some balls will go in.

EDIT:

We were 21-37 FT(56%) last night. Seriously, WTF? That's the game right there.

Our practices are three hours long... so there is time in there for horse.

We think alike, I added that before your post.

Seriously, we are all talking about lineups, offensive schemes, defense, etc. when all we need to do is make FT's at a half decent clip and quit clanking. We are ATROCIOUS at shooting the damn ball.

All ****ing night HORSE sessions if that's what it takes.

If we were shooting anywhere near where we were last year the offense would be great right now. We are shooting a lot more free throws now. I am not sure we are this bad at shooting, but I'm also not sure we are as good as we were last year either.

I’d be pissed if we passed on a lot of guys to retain a pick, then spend a pick on Rozier.

If your a guard and your name isn't either Rubio or Mitchell and u play bad for 3 mins u night not see the court again for that game. So those players have the pressure in their back of their minds. Quin loves his favourite players and treats the others like s###. Where Donovan and Rubio just play and have no pressure. It's so f##### up

Rubio's shooting weaknesses expose our team badly. He becomes a liability offensively. We need a dangerous 2 way point guard that can facilitate our offense and can spread the floor with 3 pt/ and deadeye shooting.
