What's new

I did what many told me not to and I would like your wisdom, guys

MK11 - reminds me of the typical democrat. No real world experience but knows the answer to everything. Have kids, then come and chide. Until then, it's just words. Theories are great, but whether they work or not in the real world is something completely different.

Working... Wait for it...:o

Ew. Please keep this site family friendly, folks. And by "family friendly" I specifically mean "the type of website I would be comfortable with my family browsing". And my family consists of a wife and two daughters. Take your locker-room humor elsewhere.

Seriously guys.

Archie sent me this video of him & baby in the hospital. ;-)

I call BS on that video...

Archie said his baby was almost 8 pounds and very lengthy, that baby looks way too small...

And to be fair, Archie is way more ripped than that guy, but also couldn't possibly grow such a manly beard.

We were doing pretty good up above . . . . up to a point. I wanted to give about three posreps. . . . but I'm spending more than I make, apparently.

kids and dogs can read your face. Dogs nip the ears of their pups to train them to respect limits, adult dogs usually only fight until the leadership is settled. Being a "friend" can either undermine or strengthen your position of "respect", the fact of your love is as necessary as the reality of defined expectations.

I think you guys are doing great in general. The fact that you care thunders through everything else.

yeah but you never know, he might've gained weight with the pregnancy...

Sympathy bingeing. It happens to the best of us. You can only transport so many midnight malts before you start buying 8 cheeseburgers to go with it.

To go along with having a consistent bedtime. Have a bedtime routine that includes reading or telling a story. If you read to your children they will value books and reading. You can also teach them your values through children stories. If you are imaginative or good at storytelling kids love being part of the stories you come up with. Also they will do anything not to lose storytime/tucktime with mom or dad.

Agreed on the consitent bedtime. Does wonders for the marriage if you apply it to yourselves as well.

I kid you not when I tell you all that I had a bedtime of 9pm up until high school, 9:30pm for my first three years of high school, and then 10pm my senior year.

We've gone with 8:30 PM since kindergarten. As they've gotten older it's bent a little here and there but by and large we still stick to it. But the boys and I are up at 5:20 AM so they almost put themselves to bed on their own knowing they need the sleep.
