What's new

I think we need to shake up the roster...

I hate PJ Tucker but he exposed us so much. He's always around the ball for rebounds and annoys other players. We have one too many guys that do the same thing. Too many of our guys half *** it on rebounds and defense. A trade is needed at some point. Or we will get the same result.
He is same player like don BFF but he can hit 3 pointer and this is huge difference

I agree with Stan VanGundy who said in the pregame yesterday that the Jazz miss Niang and Favors. I’m sorry but so far this season Paschall and Whiteside have not been able to fill their predecessors shoes.
lol, wut???

Hassan and Paschall have been awesome thus far. These bench guys are not the reasons why we are struggling. Age catching up with our starters like Bogey, Conley and Jingles is. One can even argue that the Jazz should play Hassan/Paschall even more and take some minutes away from Jingles/Bogey.

Spot-up threes/screen and roll actions are nice, but not if those are the only things that Niang/Favs were good at. Favs/Niang minutes completely killed the Jazz at times, resulting in multiple games when they had a brutal defensive rating of 160+. We were actually gaining points and winning ball games this season with Whiteside/Paschall minutes.

Care to make a bet on what team ends up with a better winning percentage? Oh that's right old age, particularly Bogey, Conley and Jingles! And what about Gay? Secret elixer, fountain of youth? Sounds like the Lakers are really cooked!!! All right, seems you've got it all figured out, I just thought somebody might be interested in what a national NBA analyst had to say in regard to our dubious start, that's all. o_O

Hassan and Pascall aren’t the problems coming off the bench. It’s been Jingles showing some wear and tear and JC building houses. Weren’t JC and Jingles the top 2 for 6th man last year? Are they even in the top 20 this year?

That’s the issue with the bench.

If we’re not willing to swap Oni for Dunn, then I don’t think we’re willing to swap JC or Bojan for Smart.
I think we’d embrace a name brand option if the right deal was available. The front office think they too good for DI.

Nah, we don’t buy brand name or even DI. DI is for suckers, we say, and instead of dropping a 4 spot on some old shoes, we’re going to grow some hemp and in two years we’ll see if we have enough to braid into sandals.

If we would have signed Caruso years ago like I said we’d be great. Swap AC for JC and we’ve got part of the solution.

We[re a team built around the 3 point shot. We were the 4th best team in the NBA last year taking the most shots and this year we are a bottom 4 team attempting top 3 most. The team will look much worse when we cant make our shots on both ends of the court. I am not sure if we are in a slump , if the ball is affecting us, or something else. Getting our biggest rotational offseason person into the rotation will help the team but really we need to start making our shots again. JC was never a good 3 point shooter but he made better percentages than he did.

Even with the poor shooting we are the 3rd best Offensive rating in the NBA behind only GS and 76ers. Imagine if we are making a few more shots a game we will be #1 by a decent margin. Our defense has fallen off to #11 but again missing long shots leads to fast breaks and also the team gets down when we miss a bunch of shots. We are still the 3rd best net rating in the league though.

We have attempted a total of 6 3 point shots with a defender very close, 5 of which are from JC but he has hit 3 of them. We have attempted a ton of 3 point shots wide open and are shooting okay from them but not great. We are attempting a ton of open shots (defender 4-6 feet) and are shooting terrible at these. JC and Royce are shooting 16 and 22% on these. It is killing our team to miss open shots. But we are generating a **** ton of them. We have taken far far less tight shots (defender 2-4ft) and the vast majority of those are JC and Mitchell. JC has been terrible at these Mitchell is okay at 36%.

We get the 7th most wide open shots in the NBA. We shoot pretty close to the NBA average of 37% on these. We take the 4th most open shots in the NBA. But we shoot the 3rd worst percentage in the NBA 26% and here is where our main offensive problem is at. We only take 0.5 shots per game at very tight and 5.7 at tight. We take 36 shots a game open or wide open. Our offense is generating the shots we wont. We just arent making them right now. I am pretty sure that will trend upward as the season goes on.

you do realize that we have one of the league's easiest schedules to start the season, right?

All those stats you mentioned came against the likes of Thunder, Kings, Rockets, Magic, and Bucks that were missing four of their five starters. I mean we really should be leading the league in both offense and defense by huge margin right now after playing against those teams.

We should have crushed the Pacers when they were on the second night of BTB, or Heat that were missing Jimmy Butler. But instead, we got embarrassed on our own floor. If you believe the only issue with this Jazz team is their inability to hit shots, just wait till they face the likes of Suns, Sixers, Nets, Warriors, etc.

We were getting wide open shots against everyone not just the bad teams. We just were not making them, especially in the loses. We have had an easy schedule. But this team starts slow pretty much every year under Snyder and this year our guys are missing open shots to make it even worse. I dont believe our Vets who have been great shooters their entire careers suddenly cant shoot anymore. Teams have up and downs throughout the season.

This team has issues beyond shooting. We could improve in many areas but this is our biggest problem for this team this season. BTW every team has major flaws. Health has been our biggest flaw the last couple years. I would rather the team not go all in for the regular season, it doesn't really matter. They can coast to a top seed this year.

If it’s fair to say that Quin’s teams always start slow and then exceed later in the season, would it not also be fair to say that Quin’s teams will flail out and melt down in a glorious fashion each post-season? Or is that kind of reasoning only meaningful for the positives?

They have certainly fallen apart in the last two seasons. I think they exceeded expectations originally and have been below for the last two years. Although I think its fair to say health has been an issue the last two years in a major way. But even not healthy they definitely should have still won against Denver and probably still against Clippers. Game 6 meltdown might be one of the worst meltdowns of all time in the playoffs and I think a lot of that was on Snyder.

But I also watch sports for fun and it doesnt really effect my life when the team loses. So I tend to be optimistic because it seems silly to be the other way to me personally when it comes to watching a game for entertainment. But I understand some people are different.
