For those that argue against tanking. You need a top 5 player and a couple top 20 players to win it all. We are not getting those types in free agency and to get one in trade you will need to pay an arm and a leg. Tanking gives us a better chance to get one more of those guys.

I think DM and Gobert can get there... but we have a chance to add one more... say it’s a 15% chance... that’s a better chance than relying on FA or a trade. If you fail to get the top 3 pick and end up 8 or 9 you have a better chance getting an all star than at 12-14. They don’t all hit... I get it.

Philly whiffed on one or maybe two but if Embiid stays healthy and Fultz figures things out they have a championship core... plus other picks and free agent dollars up they *** to bring in proven guys. They took tanking to the next level and it has worked even though they didn’t execute perfectly.

SA tanked for Duncan... GS tanked... SA also traded a proven player for a late first round pick.

Our draft capital is more important than the flexibility you keep hearing about... we shouldn’t go to that well unless it’s a no brained home run.

I'd probably support this, but at that point Chicago is just accepting the two second rounders and taking a symbolic pick for PR purposes, I guess.

Yup... that’s why it’s a fake first.

Most teams haven't won a championship, period.
Exactly, so should we all hate our team unless they are poised to win a championship? Should we be disappointed with playoff runs that only get to the second round?

I mean we all want the Jazz to win a championship, obviously. And I'm for the FO doing what it can to make that as likely as possible, including tanking here and there as that is the way of the modern NBA. But there is a section of the fan base that wants draft picks more than they want a team worth watching. Their attraction to the NBA is in prospects more than in the success of the team. It's swing for the fences and strike out 100 times but just keep swinging because it's a home run or nothing. No use getting on base this season and moving to second next, and maybe end up stealing home if things fall right. Just swing for the home run or strike out.

Different strokes for different folks, but I enjoyed last season, I have barely watched any games this season, even on a Saturday afternoon when I have nothing else to do, I don't really think of spending time watching a losing team play losing basketball. So for me to be an active fan I want a team that at the minimum has a winning record. I'm a Jazz fan no matter what, but my level of interest and participation in fan activities will rise and fall based on how well the team is doing.

I get that, but I don't hate the team if they aren't winning... and I will watch regardless.

Last season was great. I wanted to bring the band back together, but looking forward the best thing for us long term imo is to get a high pick. We have a lot of stuff that is not attached too, so this was always kind of a transition year. I don't see just saying we are going to win a handful of extra games to ruin what could be a better pick. Move some of that stuff that isn't coming back and play for next year. Make sure Rudy is completely healthy before bringing him back... like no brace needed and has passed all the balance beams. Or hold him out long enough that it makes sense to just wait until after AS break.

I agree with all of that. This is not a year I want a few extra wins. This is not a year or a team that I want being 6-7-8 seed and they aren't getting 5 or above, so yeah. Gobert needs to get healthy and then some. Some trades need to happen, but not "win now" trades.

..............Memo..........Niko

Age 23...6.9 PPG.......10.2 PPG
Age 24...9.6 PPG.......11.8 PPG
Age 25...12.9 PPG.....10.6 PPG
Age 26...18 PPG........17.3 PPG

Niko the better shooter and rebounder.
Memo the better defender and post up guy.

I was/am a huge huge memo fan and probably would rather have memo than niko at this point in niko career....... but I think niko fits way better next to gobert and has the potential to better than memo. (Memo was an all star one year doe iirc)

I miss everything about memo

Memo was an atrocious defender in any situation besides post-ups. If Niko is worse than Memo guarding in space then I want no part of him.

He’s better. Memo would get cooked in today’s NBA. I mean he got cooked before but it would be bad.

Niko is good and I think some of his numbers are real improvement. Fit is great. Get him but underpay... not overpay please.

We overpaid for Rubio because of Hayward requirements/pressure... we can wait here. Getting him now would give us a better chance at having him in a couple years but if he goes to porty or Detroit he still may have eyes for us in a couple years. We most likely will have more than enough space to make it happen.

Spoiler- Fultz ain't going to "figure it out." They threw away the # 1 pick in what was probably one of the best draft classes ever. Jazz got one of the best two players with Trey Lyles and pick in the 20's. Philly is going to have to start paying their talent soon. We will see how that goes for them, especially as they continue to struggle to win.

I think DM is the top guy from this draft honestly.

Fultz has an injury or he’s a head case... watched at SL and last year... he’s good. Shoulder injuries can be a bear. I think he may have gotten hurt doing something he wasn’t supposed to. If he’s a head case you might be right... an injury and I’m sure he will figure things out. Guy is super talented. The shot thing is unlike anything I’ve ever seen.

Call it tanking or whatever... it’s tough to get a contender without getting guys selected at the top of the draft.

Even a 7 or 8 pick can be leveraged to get something really good. Say we land 7-8 and Chicago lands 11-12... they might be willing to give up Niko for AB just to swap picks.

We can’t give our pick to get Niko and I advocate getting him for nothing (2nds) or tanking

I say that the chances of this happening are 725 to 1. Actually I been known to make mistakes... from time to time...
never tell me the odds !

anyone see Fulz's shooting form in the warmups yesterday i think it was ... wow he is royally ****ed up

Jazz fans wanted to keep Hayward because he was an All-Star.

Jazz fans want to tank so they can get a player who can become a future All-Star.

So fans were just picking the option that either gave them an All-STar or let them keep an All-Star. We thought we could keep Hayward, we were wrong. Doesnt make it weird.

In summer 2016 Hayward had never made an All Star appearance and had never even helped us to the playoffs...
