Is Joe Johnson off the Jazz Tradable Assets List?

The title of this thread is a little deceptive. I think everyone on the roster is tradable with the exception of Gobert.

What I mean is I think Iso Joe has the characteristics that the Jazz really value for this roster and locker room. He is the ultimate professional both on/off the court. He is exactly the kind of guy that we want to stabilize our players when we are having uncertainties this coming season.

If needed, I am sure they would include him in a package for the long term best interests of the team but I bet they are not out there freely offering Joe in proposals.
 
They would only trade him if he requested it imo or if it was a championship situation. I think he has a great relationship with Hood and is the mentor he needs.

Why... unless I get a first or the season has gone to **** no reason to move him.

I doubt someone trades a first for him.

Pass... I plan on is being in the playoffs... JJ for the second half of the year and playoffs is worth more than a second rounder to me.

If we get a first rounder or he requests out then sure but I don't think there is a contender that could make salaries work and has a first or good young player they would part with.

You don't have to cash in every expiring contract for future assets... if they are assets that move the needle then sure, but this season matters too. Our second rounders the last few years have been guys that haven't and will never contribute. I doubt a contender has and is willing to give up a first... so I think the idea is silly
 
Jazz could probably move him for a late first-round pick, a bit like Lou Williams last year. I could see a team like the Spurs picking him up. I'm not sure the Jazz would move him for this, but I think they'd include him in a bigger trade package.
 
I think it all depends on how well the team is playing. If the wheels are kind of falling off, then you have to trade him, assuming you can get some decent value. If the team is playing well and looking like a sure thing for the playoffs, you probably keep him and hope to bring him back again.

Do you really think he'd net more than a 2nd rounder? If not, is some pick that is far more likely to washout than make a second contract worth more than the high-level experience and character Joe brings to a team that is both developing players and competing now?

While I understand your position, I'm inclined to disagree.

Joe Johnson did his job. He is a basketball mercenary, not someone who is going to sign w/ Utah for the rest of his career until he retires.

And yeah, I think 2nd round picks would be worth moving Johnson (depending on the health level of Favors/If we still have Favors/If we traded Favors for any other PF). Seems like every year there are steals available in the 30's of the draft (Patrick McCaw, Jordan Bell, Draymond Green Malcom Brogdon, Frank Jackson, Montrezell Harrell, Willy Hernongomez, etc)

Yeah, maybe past 40 or so, but the last handful of drafts there have been a ton of quality in the 30's.

Also, 3 of those guys McCaw (38), Bell (38) and Hernangomez (35) were picked with selections that were bought with cash. I'd just assume the Jazz target the playoffs, keep Joe Jesus and then buy a second round pick if there's a guy they really want.
