Jazz FA rumors

But then a part of me wants him to get paid less than Favors and Kanter. That sends a clear message where your priorities are.
Favors will get an extension this summer, or if he's smart, he'll put it off until next year. Derrick will get paid BIG if he shows improvemnt. And Enes follows one season later. They're not exactly paid peanuts right now on their rookie contracts as #3 picks.

Here's how I would do it:

Offer Paul a fully guaranteed, three year deal for $7,882,663 each year or 3 years just under 24 million. That way this happens:

Year 1 - Favors and Paul make equal money. They will start the year as starters.

Year 2 - Favors will be in the 10-12 million dollar range. Kanter and Paul will have equal money. The better player will start.

Year 3 - Favors will be in the 10-12 range, Kanter in the 13-15 range and Paul making 7. It's clear who starts.

Also, it does this. Your frontcourt year 1 = 25 million or 33% of the cap.

Year 2 = 27 million or 39% of the cap.

Year 3 = 33 million or 48% of the cap.

This locks up a very good PF/C combo, championship caliber if ONLY one of Kanter or Favors improves AND leaves you with a TON of cap space to get better. I get the whole worried about Paul's motivation but if he wants a title this will be fine, especially if he doesn't have better offers out there. This is EXTREMELY fair for the Jazz and Paul.

Again, motivation shouldn't be a factor here because its clear from the beginning where expectations are. This sets you up to win a title. There is Paul's motivation. If he doesn't like it, he can say no.

Wow! I'm optimistic but there's no way the Jazz compete for a title in the next 3 years.

On / my Fire so I'm not providing the link but it's on hoopshype. Don't be lazy...or do your problem not mine

Jazz having ongoing, "fluid" discussions with the agent for Mo and Carroll. Awesome about Carroll and stop talking to Mo's agent!!!!! Right ****ing now!!!!!

Kanter and Favors might not be future star players. Hell, they might not even be future starters, but we won't know until we actually give them playing time. Don't get me wrong, I love Millsap...but I love him as a bench player. We don't need to win games this year...we just need to let the young guys play so we can actually find out whether or not they will be part of our future.

This.
