What's new

Jazz fanz and ALL of Utah in a total state of "denial!"

...you actually think Boozer and Memo were TOP free agents? What have you been smoking??? Both were DRASTICALLY overpaid by the Jazz, could be argued they earned less than half of what they were paid....and were pathetic contracts even when they were in their prime! If you poled all NBA players in the league right now....and the top 20 picks in next years draft....the team they would least likely want to play for would be the Utah Jazz hands down....true or false?
False.

You are a moron. True or false?

You have to go to Utah before you can really hate on it. Like, for instance, what the eff does Denver offer? Oh, it's a beer state, big effing deal! What about Milwaukee? Beer state. Oh, big deal! (nobody even drinks milwaukees best but cheap frat boys).

I've been to Denver, and I don't see what Would attract any free agent to go
There (Indianapolis) Plenty of cities are like that though.

Then you have cities that have clubs, Dallas, Houston for instance but you spend 2 hours trying to get to a club, and 2 hours leaving the club because of the congestion of traffic. There are NBA players that live that life, and are obviously okay with it.

What does Portland offer? It's ways away from everything.

I don't get why there's such hate for the state of Utah. You're the closest NBA city to Vegas, you're close to California. It's a city you go to work in, and have the summer to go elsewhere and live life as you please in the offseason.

Thing is we aren't the only team that has to draft players, and work wonders to build a team. Indiana is built from drafting. Potland. Denver (and trades)... The thing is we aren't the only team that has these issues. Who wants to live in Oklahoma City, by the way? All that's really there are a few Indian casinos. The alcohol is diluted. Just like Utah, right? Thing is OKC is a team that is built from drafting.

CJ, you need to chill man!

Utah Alchohol thing blown way out of proportion

First off Beer. Yes if you buy non-local beer at a retail chain in Utah it is limited to 3.2% by weight, but local brewers are allowed to sell beer in those same locations with 4% by weight. (most of Europe and Canada measure by volume)

Further if you want a beer above 4% (5% by volume)you can buy them at the state liqour or beer and wine stores.

"State liqour stores that's crazy mormon stuff" you say. well actually here is a list of the control states in the Us. It really isn't hard at all to be an alcoholic and a Utahn.

The 19 control or monopoly states as of 2005 are:
Alabama (All liquor stores are state-run)
Idaho (Maintains a monopoly over sales above greater than 16% ABV.)
Iowa (Does not operate retail outlets; maintains a monopoly over wholesaling of beverages greater than 6% ABV.)
Maine (State-contracted to private businesses for commission)
Michigan (Does not operate retail outlets; maintains a monopoly over wholesaling of distilled spirits only.)
Mississippi (State-contracted liquor stores)
Montana (State-contracted liquor stores, modeled after the ALGC)
New Hampshire (Beer and wine sold at supermarkets & convenience stores; spirits and liqueurs are sold only in state-run liquor stores.)
North Carolina (Beer and wine can be sold in supermarkets and convenience stores; other spirits must be sold in state-run liquor stores.)
Ohio (Licenses businesses to run liquor stores for a commission. Beverages under 21% ABV may be sold in supermarkets)
Oregon (Beer and wine can be sold in supermarkets and convenience stores; other spirits must be sold in state-run liquor stores.)
Pennsylvania (In the process of opening retail outlets inside some supermarkets.[2]
Utah (all beverages over 3.2% ABV are sold in state-run stores)
Vermont (Liquor stores are state-contracted and licensed)
Virginia (Beer and wine at supermarkets, all liquor stores are run by the state)
Washington (Beer and wine sold at supermarkets, gas stations, department stores, etc.; spirits and liqueurs are sold only in state-run or state-contracted liquor stores.)
West Virginia (Does not operate retail outlets; maintains a monopoly over wholesaling of distilled spirits only.)
Wyoming (State-contracted stores)
Additionally, Montgomery County, Maryland is a control county, and some cities in Minnesota (notably Edina) control sales.
About one-quarter of the United States population lives in control or monopoly states.

...here again, you misunderstand me and the theme of this thread! I don't think Utah is such a bad place....or a place I would choose last, but today's modern day NBA players WOULD choose it last! Let's face the statistical population choice and facts: White 91.8%.....Black or African American 1.3%! Why is that? Why such a discrepancy? It only stands to reason that NBA players would follow suit or feel more "comfortable" playing and living in another state....true or false?

So with these questions you have not proved that the Jazz will move out of Utah but you have qualified yourself as a spunk bubble.....

Spunk bubble
Lol.... not filtered huh?..... need to use that one more

False. Not everyone is as racist as you bro.
In fact, NBA players are some of the most accepting people around.

Just went through the list of free agents from 2004 the only better players on the list are kobe and Steve Nash so yes they were a pretty good signing

...."accepting?" Yeah, they accept free joints, free passes to "Strip Clubs" and of course, free jailhouse "tats!" No one is being "racist" here! But have you watched an NBA game in the last, oh, 15 years? The whole league has gone "hip hop" both on and off the court! Oh, and in the locker room, too! Although some European players have made inroads in to the league, it is, has been and will be for the foreseeable future a sport dominated by the "hip hop" culture! Many mainstream USA sports fans have completely tuned out today's NBA. I'm betting that the State of Utah and the city of Salt Lake will be next or right around the corner!

Blah blah blah same shtick 10 years later. Meanwhile NBA is thriving. CarolinaJazz is likely the alt of someone here but how this sort of extreme and thinly veiled racism doesn't result in an instant ban. Does not reflect well on us. Does carolinajazz really have enough capital around here that we just "let it go". It's 2013. Ban this racist

He's from one of the Carolina's, so nobody cares.

Vegas, Albequerque, Kansas City, Baltimore, Columbus, San Diego and Seattle are all cities with over 500k population without an NBA franchise. Not to mention St. Louis and Kansas City.

Heck, Mexico City, Montreal, Calgary, Ottawa, Edmonton and Missisaugua all have over 700k.

Montreal would totally take care of an NBA franchise (3.8 million people in the metro area-- but then again, they couldn't hold onto the Expos). So pissed that Vancouver ****ed up-- argh. Woulda been such a nice NBA city, and provided lotsa nice exposure for Canadian basketball. Raptors essentially represent 30 million fans.

I think an NBA franchise generally draws more steady fan support then baseball. The increased game schedule, faster paced action, superstar names, celebrity sightings...
