Jazz Free Agency Summer of 2018

Favors, Parker, Thabo, Crowder, Royce would be the best damn second unit in the NBA. And maybe better than our first unit.

Help the Bucks get Kevin Love while we get Jabari Parker. Something like (if possible):

Bucks get Love
Cavs get Burks (expiring), Thon Maker, DJ Wilson, draft considerations from Bucks, draft considerations from us
Jazz get Parker
http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q92 I don't know if you can do a 3 way trade, but if we renounce Favors, this is possible it seems.

What are these draft considerations since you do not want to give up a first found pick?

That's a good 3 way. Helps the Cavs with their rebuild and helps the Bucks get the shooter they want. And we add great depth.

Okay, let's retain favors and Exum on good deals. Trade Burks because he deserves playing time in a system that fits him and we need the cap space. Then let jerebko go. Then go after Jabari. Probably let udoh go as well if needed. But I would rather retain him if we can.
No one is taking in Burks without assets or jazz taking on a bad contract.

I still think that the best move is to bring back Favors and Exum, and then try to trade Burks for Carroll.

I was all for going after Hezonja, but with him off the board, I’m curious about who might be worth a one year MLE deal. Tyreke Evans? Bjelly?

Bjelly would be perfect, Favors starts 1st and 3rd and packs up Rudy in 2end and 4th quarters, Bjelly probably finishes lots of games.

Possibly, if that's the case give up something if you need to. I'm not convinced a team that missed out and has cap space wouldn't take a chance on him. He's expiring and when healthy and got playing time has shown he can score.

You can stretch Burk's contract and make 80% of his contract available in space. If we have 12 to 15 million available under the cap we can send the Bucks a cheap contract too in a sign in trade.

Would’ve preferred Hezonja (based on upside) but I can totally live with Bjelly as a backup 4. Biggest question for me is if they’d keep Jerebko for better depth and competition, or if they let him go somewhere else.

I think there’s a high likelihood that Burks gets traded as part of a bigger deal and is the key salary used to make things match. Jazz aren’t giving extra assets to unload Burks. I don’t see him as the focal point of any deal being made - especially since he’s on an expiring contract.

Why the hell would we stretch him with 1 year left on his deal? Stretching means 2 * the amount of years left on his deal + 1. So, we`d be paying 1/3 of his salary for three years with no possiblity of getting off that money.

If you can't dump Burks' contract then stretch it. An extra 8 million in this market is a rare opportunity.

Stretching Burks and renouncing Favors would give us some good money. But how would that be received in our locker room?

I agree that aren't giving up an asset to dump him, unless we need the space. But if that's the case they would give up a 2nd or two, we don't value those as much as other teams.

Right now doesn't Burks technically have 1.1 years left on his deal so it counts as if it is 2 years, therefore it is stretched over 5 years?

You already hate him so nothing will change.

That's not true. I do not believe he is a good fit next to Gobert. Off the court, in the locker room and in some sets, he is an asset for our franchise. However, he would severely hurt us if he signed a big contract.

I always wanted more from Favors based off expectations, but I don't hate the guy.
