Jazz get TPE for Boozer

A little butt-hurt that myth #2 didn't pan out for you? :p:D

If you want to consider packaging Boozer with a draft pick to get a TPE that we will let expire a viable sign-and-trade, then by all means believe so.

Sources now indicate that Lee to GS is indeed a S&T. Faulty sources have been forced out of my inner circle.

It's a protected 2nd round pick and I highly doubt we let such a valuable TPE simply expire after going through the trouble to get it.

Is Harrington under contract with NY or a free agent? As for his numbers, he averaged 17.7 ppg last yr, 20.6 the yr before. Thing is he's never been on a team where he actually had to play within a structured offense, but if he's actually willing to consider us than obviously he has to be aware of it, and Sloan is willing to take on that type of player. Hard to believe he's been in the league 11 yrs already. If for no other reason, it'd be entertaining, if we do sign him ,to keep count of how often carolinajazz calls him clown, hopper, knothead, or any other variation . ;)

I may be mistaken, but I believe the trade exception could be used for a player making up to the value of the TPE. I don't think there is a limitation on a lower priced player. In other words, I think the Jazz could use the trade exception from Boozer for a player making a much lower salary.

If not, then using both the Harp TPE and the Boozer TPE would put them well into LT territory again. I just don't see that happening at this point.

You're correct. Utah can use the Boozer trade exception to take back a player making 1 million if they wanted to. I also don't think Utah would just use the 13 million in cap space unless it was a player they really wanted, but it does give them a ton of flexibility in future dealings because they can act like a team 13 million under when making deals.

This sentence doesn't quite make sense, but I think what he's tryin to say, Jed, is that he is Nostradamus. He's knows the future, you don't, so he's right, you're wrong. Sumthin like that, I figure.

We would have to think about this logically: Who are we going to obtain? A TPE of that size could only be used for a team trying to unload someone they don't want. If the other team doesn't like their salary, what are the odds we would? Let's talk names.

Come on KOC lets go SHOPPING!!!!

AL Jefferson, Biedreins, S&T Lee, Josh SMith something, anything.
Use Harps to get Beasley, Marvin Williams, Carl Landry someone, anyone.

I know I 've criticized you in the past KOC. I was at the ESA booing on draft night, I HATED trading away Maynor. But I'm willing to forgive, and in some cases admit I was wrong. The Hayward pick is growing on me, and I'm hoping I eat crow on that. The one thing I have to admit about you is when your back has been against a wall you have done a very good job. So please step up again, do it now.

Don't blame KOC. Boozer wanted to sign with Chicago. KOC had no options. Carlos is an UFA. Obviously, Chicago had nothing Utah wanted. So the only option is to get a TPE. Might be useful at some point, might not, but at least it's in the Jazz' back pocket - just in case.

As for Boozer, maybe Chicago gies him 5 years, with the 6th being a team option. That's what I'd do if I were the Bulls. If he's still a 20/10 guy at age 34, then pay him the money. If not, cut bait.

...or a team in financial trouble looking to dump some salary.

Teams failing financially, and clearing space.
From the looks of the teams with the worst attendance records/ which teams I know aren't doing so hot in the pocket.

David West
Andre Igoudala
Marc Gasol
Zach Randolph
Elton Brand
Al Jefferson
Kevin Love
Gilbert Arenas
Troy Murphy
Gerald Wallace
Stephen Jackson

This scenario probably wouldn't happen until the season next year, but lot's of teams have made financially motivated trades over the past few years...the Jazz, Nuggets, Hornets, etc. I can't say I can name any names or teams off the top of my head though.

only Arenas and Brand could be traded. Other teams\player are not on the trading block. I guess. But we don't need those two

Joker, much appreciated.

David West - I don't know much about his contract, but it seems NO has tried to do some horrid deals recently that fell through. Would we prefer West over Millsap?
Andre Igoudala - Pretty sure this is a contract the Jazz don't want. If we wanted him, he'd likely be had for Andrei.
Marc Gasol - I guess it's possible Memphis deals away talent again, but who knows.
Zach Randolph - They don't want him.
Elton Brand - If they wanted him they could have him without the exception.
Al Jefferson - Don't think they'd take him.
Kevin Love - They'd probably take this guy. Would he be available for nothing?
Gilbert Arenas - Doubtful.
Troy Murphy - I'd personally take him, the Jazz wouldn't.
Gerald Wallace - No idea.
Stephen Jackson - Doubt it.

These are just my opinions.

I guarantee you there WILL be teams needing significant financial relief (especially with all these awful contracts being singed) and Utah WILL be the only team with a TE large enough to provide it for them.

Thanks for the list, Joker. I was in the middle of researching that myself. I would love Gasol, Jefferson, or Love. Murphy, Wallace, and Iggy, and West would be solid to great pickups as well.
