Jazz Just Signed Trevor Booker According To Woj

Pretty clear the Jazz are going in and setting the roster. I don't see them making any huge signings, so the flexibility isn't that big of a deal. We are going out and getting role players on short contracts.

We still have enough assets to make a big trade for a super-star.

If Kanter or Burks show they are legit and worth keeping, we can over the tax to keep them.

He was drafted the same year Favors and Hayward were. Man the guys drafted around him in the late first round have their pictures on milk cartons.

Probably good bye to Evans.

Why?

1. Burke
2. JL3
3. Burks
4. Exum
5. Hayward
6. Hood
7. Novak
8. Favors
9. Kanter
10. Gobert
11. Booker
12.
13.
14.
15.

I'm assuming we will keep JL3 since we don't have many PG's and DL likes him.

That leaves 4 spots left unfilled.

We have Clark, Murphy, Evans and Thomas as non-guaranteed contracts.

No ****ing way Murphy makes the team.

We will probably sign a physical SF to round out the roster, leaving 3 spots.

I'm pretty sure Evans will be on the team.

We needed to sign someone, but not a fan of this one.... not that I've studied the guy. Offensively, he seems to be about a wash with Evans. Defensively, i usually look at Defensive Real Plus Minus... He is second worst among PFs. I don't place a ton of emphasis in this as defense can be tough to measure by stats, but 2nd worst is a bit troubling.

Had him on my fantasy team last year, followed him/watched the games he started.

Decent defensively, quite a good rebounder, knows his role offensively and has a fairly simple energy-backup big game IMO. Quite a good backup, in my opinion. Capable of starting.

The sort of signing that you make when you want to make the playoffs. Goes against the stretch-4 trend, fills out our front court, and hell fit in well.

Curious to see if his play improves with Utah. He was in Gordon's and Derrick's draft class. 5millper is probably an overpaying simply cuz DL wants him on the Jazz and wanted to outbid other teams

Sounds good, Jazz need some muscle.

More money than he probably deserves, but it's probably tough to convince someone to be a backup on a team that won 20 some games last year in a small market

This signing could very well hurt that flexibility next summer.

By itself it isn't really anything to worry about. But when you add this to the Hayward deal suddenly that is 6-7 million to much instead of 1-2. Goes along with a previous point I made about unhealthy deals pilling up.

Either way he is here now and I hope he has a great year and earns that 5 million.

Booker bringing intensity and toughness.

I like it. Enforcer on a scrappy upstart team. Would probably stop any and all wet willy/slapping the ball out of people's hands shenanigans. Because that's the only thing holding us back. Too many damn wet willies.

Damn it... quit one-upping me.

I don't get this at all. I know we need bench guys but why at that rate and for two years when re-signing Burks and Kanter are on the table next summer.

Guys- he posted positive PER. 5 Mil a year is not bad at all for a young guy with a nice midrange game and is willing bang down low. We need quality reserves and he fits the bill. 5 Million...lol have you seen the contracts this offseason? chump change nowadays.
