Jazz Just Signed Trevor Booker According To Woj

There was certainly a bunch of teams bidding on Booker, he said he was in negotiations with a bunch of teams during the playoffs when it still would have been tampering.

Do you have a link to an article that said other teams were interested. I never heard or read anything about people wanting him.

Booker stats for 2013-2014 -21 mintues per game, 6.8 pts. .551, 5.1 rebounds .612 FTs - a role player.
Evans stats for 2013-2014 - 18 minutes per game, 6.1 pts. .527, 4.7 rebounds. .688 Ft. - a role player.

No much difference. I would say a role player/scrub.

I've been reading the Reddit thread on this signing. The Wizards' fans are really disappointed they are losing him. That's a nice thing to see after seeing all the thank you posts there last year when the Jazz took on all of Golden State's castoffs. I realize this isn't the same thing, but still I like it.

2 years $10 M... Not sure he's better than Jeremy.

Supposedly Milwaukee is shopping Illyasova hard. He has 2 years and 16 M left on his deal. I think I'd rather have him than Novak and Booker.

This ones a little surprising to me. Maybe second year is team option?

Fell into a dumpster last season, then lit it on fire. Ersan was either royally pissed about the tank and gave up, or he really sucks. I wouldn't take him without a first round pick.

Booker is a solid bench player. I would have been happier with $3M to $4M per year, but he's far from a scrub and is better than some other options. I'm pleased to see him and Novak on our bench.

According to Locke the 2nd year isn't full guaranteed.

I would suspect the Jazz overpaid for him this season, to acquire him for more than MLE or tax payer excpetion because they have cap room and the 2nd year is limited in how much of it is guaranteed.

Booker wears #35 and has it tattooed on his arm. Sucks for him that he landed in the only place with #35 retired.

Sorry on the misspelling.... I think we could have gotten a first with him and while he did have issues last year the two years before that he was a 45% shooter from 3. If he returns to form he's a good rebounding stretch 4 on a good contract. We are paying Novak and Booker about what we would pay Ersan (easier to spell). I'm fine with Booker... had you told me we signed him to 2 years $6 M it makes a lot of sense. $10 M is high, but not too bad.

Makes sense. Don't underestimate the trade value of this contract. Let's assume at there's a player in the $8-10M range the Jazz want. Other team is really trading for the pick we have in the 10-12 range. With cap holds, there won't be space to acquire that player without giving back salaries. But with guys like Novak and Booker, it's an easy trade to make. Other team is just left with half the amount after waiving Booker.

Or, at the deadline this year, the Jazz have a nice array of salaries to mix/match at various price points: Booker, Novak, Evans, JLIII and whichever two players they keep from the non-guaranteed group (Clark, Thomas, a player released by another team?).

Only the Utah Jazz would let Demarre Carroll walk last year and then sign Booker for double.

Someone who doesn't understand the "tank" philosophy.
Do you think DMC would have made the Jazz a better team last year?
Would you rather have finished with the 7th or 8th best record and had someone like McDermott instead of Exum?

I like this signing. One of the Jazz biggest weakness with this young team is toughness, we need someone that will go out there and knock people around and be there for his teammates. The other need is 3pt shooting in big situations and would like to see them get Seth Curry for this. The Jazz really addressed the outside shooting issues with Hood but it would be nice to have one more shooter on the team for end of the half/game situations. They might have overpaid a little but not by much and this young Jazz team needs to get tougher and I am hoping Kanter can help in this area as well.
