Jazz Offer Millsap Extension

We don't act like we were there. We are looking at the rules set forth in the CBA and it says that this was the max they could offer to Millsap. We are hardly defending them but just pointing out the ignorance in your posts.

Yeah I mean.... what do you expect the Jazz to do?
They want to keep the guy, but it's not like you can give him money under the table to stay or something.

If it wasn't for that idiot Russian millionaire that owns the Brooklyn Nets nowdays, Millsap would probably have agreed to an extension.

Give me a break on signing Gerald Wallace to a 4 year, 40 mill contract.

Well theres a reason why the CBA went under, lesser league and lesser players. If your seriously suggesting we model our franchise after a CBA team then I really hope your just trolling.

The CBA went under? Can we now sign Kobe to a vetmin?

Who needs Kobe? We sure don't. We have a guy by the name of Burks that is going to be better than Kobe and challenging another guy named Jordan for the best SG of all time.

umm, not THAT CBA, genius. the collective bargaining agreement. as in, the document that says that paul can get an extension offer of 107.5% of his 2011-12 salary, with 7.5% raises for two additional years... as in, exactly what the jazz offered him.

Don't be an idiot, he's ****ing with you.

LOL gotcha. Little embarrassed that it took this long for me to catch on. I should have known your too good of a poster to make such stupid posts.

Good job with the fishin. You got me.

Well, sometimes you gotta think outside the box. Look at Apple, I'd say they're doing quite well.

i'm aware of the "jumped the shark" expression its origin. just wondering how it applies here. or more specifically, wondering when i suddenly became less cool.

(i'm fully cognizant that i may be less cool than i was earlier in life; i just thought it was a more gradual thing and not defined by a single jetski-tastic moment.)

Dunno. I think he just wanted to say it. Baby's been a little weird the last couple days.

I believe that this offer to Millsap means only one thing. It's the FO's way of telling him that they want him back. Everyone knows that he most likely will get a better offer than that, but at least they are putting it out there so that Paul knows that they want him back. Who knows what he'll get offered as a UFA and if the Jazz will be willing to pay what he's worth, but it does put the negotiation on the right footing by offering him every penny that the CBA allows as soon as we're able to do so.

I would like to add that I find it a little annoying that the CBA has all but guaranteed that players in this situation must become a UFA to get what they are worth. I can see a lot of players switching teams to get a little more money that probably would have settled for an extension if the money had been more competitive. Not really a big deal for large market teams, but Utah really can't afford to have all of their high profile players testing free agency every time it comes around.

Ok time for me to stop being polite and start being Real.

The way this went down was a given. The biggest non-story of the off season. Thought it was funny that the thread went past 3 or 4 replies.

well the jazz can still offer him more $ next season than any other team can. not that it will matter because he's not a max guy -- but it's not like the extension rules remove a team's advantage in keeping its own free agent ... they just remove the advantage in terms of locking him down early.

even that seems a little weird, but i just wanted to point out, it's not like 3 yrs / 25M is all the jazz can offer paul on 7/1/13.
