Jazz players at the World Cup

I hope that Dellavedova has enjoyed starting for this World Cup because when the Olympics roll around Dante will be starting and he'll never look back.

Rudy vs Dante is in about 1 hour time, if anybody wants to follow:

Updates:
Both start on the bench...
Rudy and Dante in with 2:44 to go in the first. Almost steals it from Diaw in the first defensive possession.
Block from Rudy in first defensive possession. And on more block in the second possession.
Good drive by Exum with nice pass inside. Jawai misses.
One more blocks by Rudy. LOL! He's a monster vs Australia's second unit.
Dante makes the left-handed(!) layup in transition.
Q2: Both Rudy and Dante start.
Rudy with an assist inside for and-1 Pietrus.
Dante plays off the ball again while Dellavedova chucks TO after TO :(
Another block for Rudy. LOL!
Dante drives to the basket, but is fouled before the attempted layup.
Nice ball movement from France leads to a two handed dunk by Gobert.
Both Dante and Rudy are out with 5:20 to go in the second.
Dante in with 1:40 to go in the second.
End of first half. Statlines:
Dante - 2pts, 1/1 FG in 8 mins of play.
Rudy - 2 pts, 1/1 FG, 3rbs, 4bl, 1 ast in 7 mins of play (official statline doesn't seem right, they say he only had 2 blocks when I counted 4 at least and he had an assist they didn't count too)
The box score has been wrong every time I look at it (from any game I've watched).

I thought Dellavedova was better ,but when he plays fast guards ,he made the rest of the Aussies look slow as well....I said a week ago when I was able to watch ,Aussies would have troubles offensively with Dellavedova

Seriously, can anybody tell me why does he jump off of both feet on those? He does it a lot. Even his dunks... they are mostly off of both feet. It's so weird... I think it'd be much easier and quicker to finish off of 1 foot in a situation like that one in the video.

From memory P3 advises that you jump off of both feet so that overtime you don't get injured because you're over-using just the 1 leg.

If you look closely he isn't jumping off 2 legs, he's jumping off one. He just doesn't get any lift.

No, technically that's jumping off of two feet. It isn't necessary to have both feet in the air at the same time for it to be a jump off of two feet.

It's almost a natural classification when it comes to jumping. Some people are just natural one leg jumpers and some are two. Both can learn the other but they generally suck at it if they don't practice it. Very few are able to jump either way equally good and naturally.

I don't know what kind of jumper Gobert is though, because I didn't pay attention to it before and one video might be misleading. However slim build guys like Gobert tend to be jumpers off of one leg so I'd be really surprised if he really can't jump off of one leg. But it's not a huge deal because it can be learned really easily if he wants to. I used to be a one leg jumper and it was only my left foot since I'm right handed. But now I can jump off of my both feet separately or together equally good. For me, learning to jump off of my right foot was harder than learning to jump off of both feet.

Yes, for most people jumping off your right foot is harder and not natural since that is the correct foot to jump off of to perform a proper left-handed layup.

ya. rondo is one of the few players who mastered it. It is unorthodox that players have a hard time timing the block. hope exum figures it out somehow

Actually you can see how he lifts the foot that's further away from the basket first. This means he's jumping off one leg.

In practice Exum should have been smart enough to know that he goes reverse vs Gobert and use the rim as protection to get his shot to the backboard.

Agreed to disagree then. That's perfectly within the lines of two leg jumping for me.

Nope you jump off two legs when they lift at the same time. You can see a half second gap where he first uses one leg to accelerate further to the basket and then the other one to lift off the ground. By that he tries to evade the rim protector with his length, leaning to the basket and a quick release.

Whatever it was, it was super awkward and wasn't effective.

You can't agree to disagree? You are better than that.

I've already said my opinion about the timing of the feet.
It isn't necessary to have both feet in the air at the same time for it to be a jump off of two feet.

It's absolutely not necessary to have your both feet cut from the ground at the same time in order to get force from both of your feet which he clearly did in his jump in the video.

Btw, your half a second is pretty short.

He was not getting past Rudy no matter how many legs he jumped off of on that play. The correct move would have been a reverse layup using the rim as protection, or an assist to an open player once he pulled the bigs to the basket.

I'm sure happy that Rudy is a Jazz man.

or jump into Rudy to draw a foul and throw the ball up after the contact for a possible and one ala tony parker.

I watched the play again as a result of your comment but I cannot imagine how Exum (or even Parker) could have pulled that off on this particular play. Gobert was slightly following the play.

BTW, notice how wide open #7 is at the three point line. I have no idea if he's a good shooter, and it would have taken a hell of a pass to get the ball to him, but what a play it would have been if he had made it work. I believe Exum is capable of those sorts of great passes, and could eventually deliver them on a routine basis.

Croatia vs Lithuania is on. It's going to be interesting to see Ante Tomic vs Valanciunas and Montejunas

I don't like how Tomic matches vs Valanciunas. Valanciunas is abusing him like crazy. :(

Saric impresses me every time I watch him.
