Hanlan can easily be listed as a SG, so I'm not sure it has to be him or Cotton.
Hanlan is probably also going to push Exum. He'll give Exum a wake up call and force him to work harder.
What do you know about Exum's work ethic? Or Hanlan's? Or Hanlan's ability to translate?
Hanlan is already more polished and experienced than Exum was at the end of the season. He'll be able to do a lot of the things--drives, floaters, dribble pull-ups--that Exum is still learning.
I don't doubt Hanlan's ability to play at the NBA level. He's pretty mature at 22 years old and has a pretty complete game.
All Exum had to do last year was play defense, and surpassing Burke in the rotation was a given.
Burke has actually played in the NBA and had a stronger resume than Hanlan's coming into the league (as evidenced by his winning CPOY and draft stock), so why would you assume that Hanlan will push Exum when Exum unseated Burke? Just because the item is new doesn't automatically make it better. And seriously what is this **** about Exum's work ethic?
You do understand that Hanlan hasn't played one second of NBA basketball and the vast majority of 2nd rounders don't make it, right?Hanlan > Burke, imo --- Burke has been pushing historic lows in terms of offensive efficiency and has defensive limitations.
Regardless of Exum's work ethic, which I'm sure is really good, he's going to be pushed every day in practice going head to head against Hanlan. They're going to be running the same actions. It can only help his development.

Well, he can't have much worse of a summer league than Burke has had. And anything he gives us in the regular season will be an improvement over Trey Bricke.I expect Hanlan to have a very good summer league - my big question is once the season begins will he get assists and play good defense?
If he's really the most talented pg on the roster, then it won't be much of a battle, will it?

No it wont be. Cotton will be your starting PG.
lololol he's 4 ft 8 for crying out loud !!
Well, the poster is "GoFriars" so definitely a fanatical. I think the Jazz really like Cotton. I don't see him as more than a 3rd PG, though. But you never know. He plays uptempo and can get the team into their offense. A starter? Definitely not. Backup? I think that's his ceiling. 3rd PG? Definitely!
