Jazz to Sign Neto

Pretty underwhelmed at this point. We do not have a good track record with Rauls. Everything I have seen about him seems bad. His declining stats in each of the last 3-4 years. His lack of offense. Seems kind of meh to me. Hope he turns out to be far more than he was when he wasn't in the NBA.

Interesting that so many are quick to trust DOL and company on Neto, when it was DOL and company that evaluated and selected Trey to begin with.

For the record, I like Cotton.

also, watching those highlights, Derrick Favors is going to get hit in the head with a Neto pass. Players need to be ready all the time with Neto on the court.

Agreed that DL made a big mistake with Tb, but was he in the drivers seat at that point in time? Did Jerry Jr, Ty, have "Ole Jer the God"'s approval to go after TB? I always thought it a bit odd that DL mentioned how much Ty wanted TB, like he was already trying to wash his hands.

And I too like Cotton much more than TB. TB does absolutely nothing that causes any big concern for the other team, they are happy to see him create and take his own shot.

DL did give immediate and constant credit to Ty Corbin when it came to the selection of Broke Jumper Burke. His efforts in this regard were exceptional, IMO.

So they didn't have to buy out his contact in order to sign him? I thought that was always just part of the process.

I'm not sure about his buy-out clause, but if I had to guess he would have to be bought out. As far as I know he is still in contract with Murcia.

I'm pretty ambivalent but the women of #jazznation are rejoicing.

I would, at the very least, consider it...

I think Neto may be the best distributor of the group. We need a guy to run the system off the bench. I think we trade Burke sooner or later. Cotton will probably stick around. I think Hanlan will be assigned to Idaho. After the Jazz bought the stampede DL was asked about how bad of a team they had been and he said that he would be committed to bringing in talent going forward. I think Hanlan will be the first of many 2nd rounders to develop in Idaho.

I love me some Neto. He is Rudy's friend therefore he must be a jazz man. Plus he is easy on the eyes. He'll be our new kyle korver.

TB is gone. I think this is what DL has been working on but without success. It probably means we will pull a Kanter with TB. The Jazz wouldn't be signing Neto or giving this much opportunity to Cotton if they weren't going to be on the team. And I don't recall Booner or Bolerjack mentioning Trey at all last night, or if they did, not much. I think Burke is on his way out.

Opportunity to Cotton? He is a partially guaranteed player playing in Summer League. He played to end the year because we had no one else and Burke was injured.

Neto is signing now because he just had a down year. He realizes this is probably his last shot to come into the NBA and get in NBA circles.

I don't understand the Neto hate. He's 6'2" with shoes which is adequate for backup NBA PG. He's a pass first PG who actually has a decent shot, just never looks for it and generally does "bail out" shots, so all anybody wants to do is focus on his "terrible" shooting ability. What we need him to be able to do is bring the ball up the court without turning it over, run the pick and roll, and be a decent defender. I think he can do all of that. Pretty sure he can hold his own against any other backup PG in the league. We already have our starter, so let's start looking at him in terms of everybody else's backup.

Look, if he was a phenomenal shooter / scorer then he would not have been avail when the Jazz drafted him. I still think he brings a lot of the table, and I really like the mix of talent Jazz PG lineup has (assuming we trade Burke).

We shall see ... In any event, I sure hope they trade Burke. He is not good for team chemistry.
