The dude loves Stockton... that's good enough for me!!
Captain Obvious reporting for duty:
If Neto's agent convinced him to sign with the Jazz this season just on the chance he won't get cut or that he might get some D-League time, that's insane.
If the Jazz wanted to get Neto signed this summer, why draft Hanlan? Why sign Cotton?
If Burke isn't going anywhere AND we signed Neto and Pleiss, we're still very much PG-heavy with only Exum likely to bring any serious interest trade bait.
I think there's a general assumption that the Jazz are operating under the KOC model with these moves, and that the magic number for PGs is 3. But perhaps we are actually going into the season with 4 PGs and a pretty thin bench at the 3-4-5.
This!
Trey's favorite player=Iverson.
Neto's favorite player, and his father's favorite= Stockton.
I'm rolling with Neto.
If they kick Cotton to the curb for Neto it will be a titanic mistake.
I don't see the attitude issue with Burke. He took a backup role without complaining, and has taken the fans ire without complaining. He's a good leader. I don't think he's an exceptional player, but I have never seen any indication that he isn't a good teammate.
He didn't play like he was in a back up role though. He still shot a ton and still wanted to be the man.
Backup PGs have been signing for $5 - $7M in free agency. The argument in trading for Trey is that you can get a back-up-caliber PG for $2.5M or whatever his contract is and save a bit of cap. There are probably several teams that would take that deal depending on what they need to give up.
Burke is also a guy who works harder with more competition. Exum is the future. Now the Jazz needed to get some guys to make Trey fight for the #2 spot.
Who would win 1v1 in their prime Neto or Lopez?

Great news. As much as I like Cotton I want a facilitator type pg option.
Hmm.. I dunno, a PG that can't knock down 3pt I don't want neither... I think Cotton is a better prospect than Neto but that's just me. Cotton's like a quicker better 3pt shooting version of Burke IMO.
