What's new

Jazz VS Rockets 9pm ET / 7pm MT

Here is another thing about Rudy. He obviously rolled his ankle cleaning up on that one play. You can clearly see it in the replays. But he immediately came back in and continued to dominate. I bet it was hurting a bit afterward and tender after the game, but no complaints from him. Is he Iron Man?

Put Boozer in exactly the same situation and he misses 22 games while crying about it in every interview, then demanding more money.

I have a new found respect for French toughness.

He also didn't writhe in pain. Held it for a second and got up and made his free throw. He might be wolverine.

In terms of style of play, I like Hood better in the starting lineup to spread the floor.

And Burks is more capable than Hood of being the go to guy for the second unit.
I'm not so sure of that second one. Hood's looked good with the ball in his hands. And he's showing to be a more willing passer. I think with Hood and Burks we have a really good rotation at SG. We may have the eventual dead eye shooter we need in Hood. I'm not sure what kind of player this team still needs besides a backup PG, and maybe one more capable big man. Hayward, Hood, Burks, Millsap, and Ingles is plenty for a SG/SF rotation. Could definitely upgrade either of Ingles or Millsap but for a 4th and 5th man they are not bad. Maybe turn one of them into a better shooter.

I think most of us really liked the Hood pick on last draft, so I can't say I'm surprised with his play, but man, it is such a breath of fresh air for this team without Burks, to have that second wing scorer on such a dominant defensive team. If Hood is going to be this good, they have the luxury of getting a 4th big and/or another legit point after they find a way to give Mr. 1-19 away for peanuts.

Hood is like Ron Mercer with defense.

I love how when teams lose to Utah their fans flip **** and act as if we haven't been kicking *** lately.

With the emergence of Hood and Favors and Rudy, and Hayward having what could be termed a breakout year as well, our biggest problem in the future will be convincing Greg to mortgage the Miller's entire holdings to keep this team together for 6 or 8 championships in a row.

Just explain to him that if he is the owner that holds it together and it results in championships for Utah that he will be able to go and do anything he wants in Utah.

You want to bowl on I-15? Done
You want to be the Mayor of SLC for a month? DOne
You want a sleepover withall the UofU and BYU cheerleaders at once? Done
You want to change the name of Provo to Millertown? Done

Provo is a stupid name anyway.

I'd lay on the dad card cuz you know he's got an inferiority complex. I'd say things like "man your dad never brought a championship to Utah" "Larry never wanted to pay luxury tax". "No, your bleached tips don't make you look douchey"

Really excited about hood. His defense was pretty bad in summer league. He isn't a lockdown defender but he's clearly improved and is pretty good on ball.

His offensive game is really diverse... Much more so than I thought when at duke. Seems to get separation when he wants to. Hitting on these late round picks is such a big deal.

If Hood continues to play at this level then he and Burks are the answer at SG and the jazz can spend their money else where. Like a back up C and SF.

Hood being a reliable shooter and ball handler is very good news for this team.

With a 90 million dollar cap on the horizon it should be very do'able. Right now, Jazz only have 6 keepers - Exum, Burks, Favors, Hayward, Gobert, & Hood. Booker, Millsap and Ingles are nice guys to have but they're all very replaceable and would all come relatively cheap if they choose to keep them.

The challenge is finding those maybe 2 (probably 3) additional pieces that will move this team into a legit contender.
