What's new

Jeff Withey Signed

Well it is training camp, you want to have a diverse group of players to have to practice against.

perhaps it is a hyper-minimally guaranteed contract. It makes sense to me on those terms. Maybe he'll replace Jeremy Evans.

Yes, all these contracts are hyper minimal. I think the guarantee is 75K if they are cut after training camp.

It's just the Jazz getting a close look at Withey in case an injury happens. If Gobert or Pleiss go down, you only have 1 center and they may look at Withey (depending on if they like what they see).

He was picked on pick after Nate Wolters and one before Grant Jarrett in the 2013 Draft. Was a college all american and has a career shooting percentage for .500 in 95 NBA games. Perhaps this is the end of Cooley?

It's not my money, but, yeah, I hope those are the details. I'd be surprised if he made the roster. I'd rather see Traveon Graham, Cotton, and Johnson on the final roster than Jeff.

Withey can give you spot minutes/fouls to give without giving up much in defense.
More than you could say about a lot of other bench warmers in the NBA.
(I've never liked him, but we could do a hella lot worse.)

Late blooming Jeff Withey. Kansas' all-time blocks leader. The Jazz like their 7-footers active it would seem.

A much more legit option than Jack Cooley, imo.

Agree with this. Have never liked Cooley. Never got the experiment neither. Just doesn't look like an NBA player. Good guy and all but.. sorry.

All bigs that played in the NBA last year > Cooley

My thought of Chalmers heading to SLC is for the Jazz to package up some of the non-guaranteed contracts including perhaps Cotton and shipping them to Miami who I'm sure would cut them quickly for salary cap savings.
