LOL back at ya. There were just as many signs pointing to him using the Jazz as a negotiating ploy. Some people just see what they want to see.
It's not unfair at all. The NBA is the best basketball league in the world, and not by just a little, by a ton. He's a professional basketball player last I looked. This is the pinnacle of his profession, and he's choosing not to try it out when he has the opportunity.
I don't know. Some people prefer being a big fish in a small pond. It depends how competitive I was. However, I would admit my limitations if I choose that path. I personally hate large corporations and would never want to work for one, but I get that up front.
But my job isn't all that analogous to the sports world. I don't care to ever work for a Big 4 Accounting firm, and I don't care to ever be known as one of the best accountants in the world. If my "draft rights" were held by KPMG I would have told them ages ago I'm not going. I'm fine working for my mid sized company. But I get that I'm not cut out for that world, and I'm content with it.

If he is there at 12 most definitely. Surprised you did not bring up McDermott actually.
Man, he must have not wanted to come to Utah as I would be pretty certain that his deal with the Jazz would have been more than $2.2m. I would have guessed he would get in the $5m+ range per season to come over, similar to what Mirotic got. His wife must really like Spain as he left about $10m on the table.

Am I the only one that is happy with this? I know this dude well because I am from Europe. Sure he is skilled like hell but I doubt he can play in the NBA. Too soft, has the body of a 12 years old kid. Imagine him playing against Cousins or D12. He could literally die trying to defend these guys. Best center in Europe? Probably. But it's easy... Nenad Krstic returned from the NBA jobless and became the Euroleague MVP ffs. Still Tomic could have contributed off the bench but at a big price. So I am happy with him not coming over.

So, you're not cut out for big time accounting? You're not striving to be the best accountant you can be? Basically, what you're saying is that you are the Ante Tomic of the accounting world?

Possibly. I'm fine with that too. The last thing I want in the world is to work for a large corporation.
Competitiveness isn't the most important trait in the world for an accountant. It is for a basketball player.

He didn't leave any money on the table. He'd have to make 6 million per year here to equal 3 million there. So, he will have the same money.
That's why i said this:
Why would leave one company where you are at the top of the totem pole (Tomic in Europe) to get paid less to be at the bottom of the totem pole (Tomic in the U.S.)?

I remembered this cos I felt the same way. He is not motivated enough to play in the NBA. He likes the comfort of Europe.

I disagree. Competitiveness is very alive in accounting. Maybe Tomic feels the same about basketball as you do for accounting. Maybe he stays in Europe for all the same reasons you stay at your job.
Like I said, it's unfair for you to bag on him, when you are doing the same things he is doing.
