Joe Ingles is bad

I would start Ingles and bring Burks off the bench. Or, I would duplicate him and clone him and start him at all five positions. We could change our name to the Utah Ingles and we should probably fire Quin and let one of the clones coach the team. While were at it, I'm pretty sure Ingles could do DL's job. I can't get enough of Joe Ingles.

Joe playing so much is helping Exum out there. He is a comfort factor. But, yes if we want to start winning games we need someone to step up. Why isnt Novak getting any burn? I thought he was our shooter.

Because he is U S E L E S S on defense.

Yup. And sadly this also sums up our season so far. I'm surprised we haven't already started talking about how cute his butt is.

Listen, that Joe Ingles has contributed is almost a miracle and he's been decent. On the totem pole of things to complain about, finding and having a rotation player (even if a fringe rotation player) for nothing has to be literally at the bottom.

The complaint about Ingles is less about Ingles and more about our overall bench lacking scoring ability. He would be better if we had a more aggressive scorer for him to compliment, hopefully Hood can be that guy. Ingles/Exum combo is just too passive most games.

They are both rookies. But I do agree about ingles needing better players around him. I am extremely pleased with the guy, and sure he will be a decent bench player for us for a while, but if he is one of our top bench players, our bench is in trouble.

Crazy how much of a pass Ingles gets for shooting 37% from the field and 29% from deep.

What do you think is the factor in allowing him to get that pass? Do you think it's something outside of basketball?

Good point.
I've soured on Ingles. He's steady in terms of passing with no TO's, staying in front of his man, etc., but he doesn't offer much else. Jazz need shooters outside of Hayward. Quin's offense is getting players open shots, but players aren't hitting them.

Yup. This bogles my mind. Soooo many open, uncontested shots that are missed. I commented the other night during one of our games about how many assists Burke would have if only the players he was passing to were hitting their shots.

Ingles is a good shooter. But he surely needs some time to adapt to the NBA, his new team, new role and the new environment. The guy haven't spent the summer league nor the camp with the Jazz, he didn't even have much practice with the team before his first game. I just prefer to look at it from the positive angle, he offers enough of things to stay on the court most of the time despite his bad shooting percentages. His passing, steals and smart play easily justifies around 15-16 mins per game in my opinion. And the 18 mpg isn't significantly more than that, it's certainly not a major problem at all among the other things the team needs to fix at least.

He even does better defensively than I expected from him. Of course, he still looks slow(it's also partly due to his moving style which is rather relaxed) against most of the players but he plays smart on defense, he is aware of what's going on, does pretty good on most occasions and he certainly doesn't get abused by opponents.

Plus, shooters go in a slump from time to time, but they don't stay there forever, it doesn't mean they can't shoot anymore. If anything, I would like him to be more aggressive and more confident when shooting. He passes on many open shots, he's around 350th in the FGA per game list, there are many many players getting less playing time but having more shots than him.

Btw, his shooting slump is only with his long distance shooting which he has to adapt to the longer distance than the FIBA ball. Only 27% of his shots are 2P FGA and he is shooting at 62% in that department.

If ingles has a positive effect on exum, then I like him on the team. I think he should play less though. He is the true tank commander this year.

Placeholder for a season. He'll be upgraded in the offseason - either through free agency or the draft. Don't see him back in 2015/16 no matter how much of a nice guy he is.

Only think Ingles is doieng bad is scoring right now, but he is sharing the ball and making plays for teammates and I like it. If he starts hitting shots, he could help this young team winning some games.
