Kanter restricted Free Agent

I think mid December would be the earliest you would see a trade. DL wants to see just a little more of Kanter in the system.

Mid-December is just fine. Enes' defense doesn't look like it will improve and he stagnates the offense. Let's just get a defensive stopper and a decent 3pt shooter.

If Kanter was rookie I wouldn't be worried about one game here, but the guy comes out of the gate looking like he's headed for a decent night and then starts seeming totally lost on both ends of the court. I totally agree that his season with the Jazz essentially runs through December. If he can't find some consistency and an ability to play engaged defense 90% of the time they've got to look for offers while he has some value. The guy's an ox. He's strong like an ox, jumps like an ox, an too often starts thinking he'd rather wander over into that field with the clover than just pull the damned the cart like he's been told.

Kanter's ceiling is Jarron Collins, but with less leaping ability andm no charges. But let's all be serious. An extension wasn't signed because neither party wanted to read the headline " Jazz Extend Enes"

I've always been a Kanter supporter, but with Gobert improving quickly, I'd be more willing to let Kanter go (if a team offers him a max deal and the FO doesn't feel he's worth that).
Why the hell would anyone offer him max? Can anyone tell one game he was the leading player (not leading scorer. I mean the winner game.) that he shined like a max player except for that Bobcats game? He is not anything worth max. But he is definitely a franchise type player for many reasons. Jazz not extending him is the smartest move possible. This is the chance for him to push himself forward and get consistent in whatever he does good. And if he does anything close to the performance in his closing performance last season, then the Jazz are so keeping him. Because there are no frontcourt threats in offense still. But if the Jazz finds a replacement for his offensive input, that will be a different story.

This is like Boozer all over again (and Kanter isn't even in that category). Enes might put up 16 pts/per, but he gives up way more on the other end. Maybe the Jazz can score 5 more points with him on the court. But is a 110-100 loss better than keeping a game in the 90's and a lot closer with a player who is much better defensively? His offense is really meaningless.Really, though, the issue with Kanter is that he's a tweener. His offensive game is inside, but defensively he can't guard the post. But he can't platy the 4 because he doesn't have the range on his shot. Not saying he can't change and progress during the season, but I think the likelihood is remote. What the Jazz need to do, IMO, is keep Favors and Gobert inside. Both are rim protectors. Then they need to find a younger version of Marvin Williams to bring in at the 4: a decent defender who can hit the corner-3.

A lot of options can kick Kanter out of the Jazz game. One of them is Derrick Favors developing a wider range of mid-range scoring. He is already a lot better than any of the bigs in the team in P&R, so if that happens, Kanter's scoring will look less important. Another thing is the one you have said which is a good point since the Jazz can always use a deeper small game squad. In this condition, when you put two players like today's Favors and Gobert on starting line up, you won't have as much deficiency in scoring, they will add enough deep inside the paint and the most important thing for success in both scenarios is MAKE THE FRIGGIN FREE THROWS! Another case is the Boozer case, which is a case you can turn into a more profitable thingie. Because believe me, there are teams that would jump onto Kanter right now. And Enes as a young man can use some different start over experience at this point of his career. New teammates, new fanbase, new coaching staff, new FO, even new toilet paper! He will have to prove his game with a much more experienced player as he is at least compared to his rookie year which he had a great body to dominate but literally an empty skull as far as BBIQ.

You mean a better version of Marvin Williams, because Marvin just isn't that good.
