Kanter traded to OKC

Given what we know, I'm not a huge fan of the deal, but I don't think looking in retrospect on what Kanter WAS (third pick) is in any way useful for GMs.

Nor should it be. As someone alluded earlier, sunk costs are sunk costs.

So we got more draft picks, at some point we need to turn these into some good veterans who can help the team. We can't be perpetually young and win.

The Thunder included ex-Arizona PF Grant Jerrett in the three-way deal, per @DarnellMayberry. So it's possible he could be headed to Utah.

wtf is going on? I'm so confused. What exactly did we get? Does anyone Know?

Can't believe a rare 3rd pick is gone so soon as a universal fact.

Everyone knows that you are playing the "I am Turkish but I try to be objective, a.k.a. I bash Enes Kanter" card.

STOP THIS A$$ kissing. We got it!

I'm not talking about Kanter right now. I wished he would stay in Utah but he won't. No need to discuss about it. He is gone and I hope the best for both sides.
JUST STOP being like this.
You are ridiculous as those Turkish Enes Kanter fans who think Kanter is made of gold. You are the same, just in opposite direction.

People don't understand sunk costs... in life or basketball.

Seems like the first rounder is OKC's. I think this was a **** trade for the Jazz. Indeed, if I understand correctly, we will have to pay Perkins for the buyout. Kanter obviously had his flaws, but the dude was young and had legitimate skills. What we got was worthless in the scheme of things. I think it would have been better to try to work on the relationship and see where it takes you. The guy hadn't been a cancer in the lockerroom and I have faith that Quin could keep him in line. Disappointed!

What an *******. Go slurp draino.

Yes, the problem is we had no control over the price and we had no control over Enes' desires. Do you really want a disgruntled player who doesn't want to be here with the team?

You hit the nail, people never take into account team chemistry. One bad piece can blow up the whole system on any given team. Some teammates were already expressing 'surprise' about Kanter's words, to not use a different adjective of course...

This upcoming FA and the next capspace is super important. The Jazz need to make a big signing either now or next year so we can overpay to a player who won't be overpaid in the future, if that makes sense.

I don't get why this is so hard to understand. This summer is the last summer Utah will have a chance to be relevant. Resigning Kanter dooms us to a second round playoff exit at best. This move gives us a chance to win a title. This summer is HUGE for this organization. Between the draft pick and cap space, this is Utah's last chance to significantly get better. Why waste that on Kanter? Plus you tell me this move will get us a better pick this year, plus a pick in the future, plus max cap space?

I'm in. This is a great trade.

Now that Enes is finally gone....I want to know from where arrives all this hate for Kanter! I suspect it is something related to his religion...

We will regret roughly of this trade! Millsap became All-Star out from Utah...Korver the same....Matthews one of the best 3pt shooters in the league...and now we gifted Kanter for peanuts.

Kanter is prisoned to dirty work and play much less post up and midrange now I think. His scoring might drop.

How is Kanter prisoned for dirty work.......He has the whole in the paint play for OKC now .All defenses are geared for Durant and Westbrook and Ibaka's game has moved outside .Durant and Westbrook are willing passers .Kanter will have way more open looks with OKC

Another thing ,everyone talks like DL is this great GM ...well Sam Presti has shown he is ....AND ...we went for Kanter OVER Brooks Lopez

They gained less than 4 million in cap space. It's not life changing like breast plants.

Either you know less than nothing or you're trolling.

Here's the quick run-down:

Everyone in the league is going to have the functional equivalent of max cap space because of jumps in the salary cap from the new league TV deal. When everyone has max cap space, no one has max cap space.

New York and Utah are obviously comparable in terms of free agent desirability. So I guess you got me there.
That jump won't occur until 2016, so the Jazz have an opportunity to add pieces this summer with the extra space from dumping Novak (not all that significant). If DL strikes out again this summer, he'll have done a pretty **** job overall through his first 3 seasons. Dude took over a playoff team with a couple fringe all-stars and 4 decent, high upside lottery picks. He's now effectively turned 3 of those pieces into a 2018 mid- to late-1st round pick, acquired no impact players through non-draft trades or free agency, and has a mixed/incomplete record in the draft (I'm not as high on Exum OR Gobert as most on the board). What am I missing?
