Kirelenko in Trade talks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FWIW AK is the only game-changer on the team not named Williams or Jefferson. You can't trade that (and the expiring) for a longer contract and a position of least need. You don't trade game-changers unless you have to or unless you're saving a **** TON of money (which the Jazz wouldn't be).

In a 4-team trade, of course you try to get the talent you feel you deserve when someone is getting EVERYTHING and you're getting BORIS DIAW. It's the Jazz's job to start kicking and screaming to make this deal be anything but an absolute, across the board loss. The Nets will be stoked just to get Melo and not lose Lopez.

No you can't look at trades like that. No GM looks at 4 team trades like that. If that was the case than 4 team trades would literally NEVER happen.

Its only about what you give and what you get. Every team looks at it that way. That is why 2 teams can be trading big talent and 2 teams can be trading mediocre talent. Usually the mediocre talent is just to make it financially work and also swap pieces around and see if they fit better. Jazz are the mediocre team to make it work. And we can only look at what we trade and what we get. Nothing else.

You can if said "game changer" is completely unreliable due to his injury history. Many of us were through with AK after his calf injuries last season.

AK is overrated big time. He isn't the game changer that he used to be. He is streaky and injury prone.

Boris Diaw is solid and I would love this trade if he got paid like 4 Million. But since its 9 Million for 2 years....I don't like it. It seems we could trade for a player with a little less talent but a lot less contract.

Don't trade AK

I love AK, please don't trade him. At least not for that big pastry Diaw. He wasn't even a top three talent on the french national team. We need to start a petition. If the Jazz are going to trade AK we need Gerald, not Diaw. Personally I would be crushed to see AK leave just for salary cap relief.

I love jazzfanz rational:

"I would rather have a crappy player all of the time rather than a much better play most of the time."

AK when he sucks is Boris Diaw with legs. Don't let this happen.

Diaw is a better man to man defender (against PF's). He is a better passer. He is better at running an offense. He is better at setting picks. he is stronger. He is a better outside shooter.
I think you are overrating AK and underrating Diaw.

I suppose moving AK's expiring contract back a year would allow the Jazz to have 2 shots at adding a key piece in free agency (2012 when Memo, Diaw and Deron expire, 2013 when Sap, Big Al and Raja expire). Diaw at the 3 for 2 years is pretty ****ing gross though.

At what point can they swap Diaw for Wes Mathews?

Garbage. Compare them at the 3, consider that AK knows the system. The only thing Diaw has on AK is shooting, and even then he's not good enough for the 3. This would be a HUGE loss.

And while most of you were throwing a retard party when Memo got extended, I knew THE SECOND I found out it was going to a tremendous headache with franchise-shaking potential.

Boris Diaw. You have got to be ****ing kidding me. The Jazz could've had AK off the books years ago, and they for the first time appear willing to dump him -as a ****ing EXPIRING - to save... what, a few million over two years? Wow. Well-played. Check-mate.

From Wikipedia...

This is best seen in the 2005–06 season, during which Diaw started as a bench player, then convincingly subbed as a point guard when starting playmaker Steve Nash (that season's MVP) was injured, then started as a small forward and was finally moved to center when all three Suns pivots got injured, posting impressive stats of 18.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 5.2 assists in the playoffs despite playing out of position.

He could potentially come off the bench for us to fill in at the Center position as well if required...........

We could always cite AK's stats from 03/04 through 05/06...Diaw got fat and apathetic. 05/06 was a long time ago.

Also, AK could fill in at the 5 if need be (taller/longer than Diaw, much better help side defender as well).

All the boo-hooing in this thread is hilarious. We have heard a RUMOR about PART of a POSSIBLE trade that would require Melo to sell his soul to the Nets, one of the worst teams in the NBA who barely got better in the off-season. Not saying it won't happen. Just saying.

If Diaw was in his final year as well, this would be a brilliant trade from a financial point of view. With that extra year on there, I don't like this trade as-is.
