Hmm, I see it the opposite. Jump on the big stuff early. Try and strike a home run. If that fails there will be some cheaper free agents or a trade that we can make later. Mid tier are the guys that will get overpaid and sign early. No reason to try and get in a bidding war over a bench guy.

Last year Porty got great value in the middle tier by striking early. Bidding war can't start if other teams are at a different auction.

If I'm DL I make a call to several big guys (their agents anyways) and just ask but I'm moving off of them quickly. Everyone has space and will still have space... When a few players get snapped up their will be a plethora of teams still with space and few players to bid on... That's when the desperate auctions will happen and people will make the worst mistakes.

Pretty sure those rumors are out every year but not worth fighting over.

If DL signs someone to an eight figure deal I hope it is because he knows that George Hill will not renegotiate (as has been reported) and that Favs is likely to want to pass too.

In that case I'd offer a huge one year deal for someone like Deng or Hill, but no second year... or an unguaranteed second year.

I just don't see any value in the FA market this year... The time to add a guy was last year

Read on... was using that to prove exactly that about Hill... His sample size is suspect. I don't think Book is as good a shooter as Hill, but scoffed that someone felt 41% was sustainable for Hill.

Nobody can say for sure, but either Dr. Jones was intoxicated, hacked, or butt-posting. Could have been posting in tongues.
